Another stand out BA this is why I LOVE this site I just wish I wouldn't have waited so long to become a member. As for SpottedZombie hopefully this will stop his future attempts at ripping off BA's now that more people are onto his bullshit.

    can't have definitions, just guidelines.

believe me, definitions would bring about flame wars, paranoia, etc etc.

the best thing to do is to communicate with your trade partner, and to out shady behavior publicly.

It is great to see the community hooking the OP up with some beer.

SpottedZombie sounds like a complete douche.

Close call, but I nominate myself. His first ISO was before Dark Lord Day tickets had been for sale and he was offering what sounded like a massive amount of Dark Lord. Sent the guy a Bmail asking if he understood how Dark Lord Day worked and his response was more or less "f*ck you."

Cardern - huge bummer, man. It's unfortunate because there were many threads where Spottedzombie acted like a child and were subsequently deleted. There may not have been any writing on the wall, so to speak as most of his inflammatory posts are gone. That included a thread he started calling out a BA as a suspicious trader, but it turned out he was the one in the wrong.

Sorry to hear about that. Send me a BM and I'll shoot you a couple Pliny's to help cope. I know life gets in the way, but communication nowadays isn't that difficult. That's why its good to have friends in BA who know you that can have your back for emergencies.

I love seeing this part of the community, but if it was me I would feel weird accepting their offer. Well I would probably accept and send them a surprise box down the road.

Had to be even money odds on him...

I propose a new "guideline" - 30 days after an agreed upon trade shipping date, you out the person. Period, no questions asked. *Crazy* extenuating circumstances aside, after 30 days, how many trades actually get done without public shaming? And in the event of those extreme rare cases where it is justified, the person can easily explain the issue to the community, and should respect the fact that these kinds of standards are in place for the good of the community.

As I learned from the Swuntly who cried wolf, there is no limit as to how low people will stoop to try to weasel out of a trade.

I was thinkin three weeks from the time trade was finalized and ship dates agreed upon. Of course there will be exceptions. But for many of these posts it seems like people take way too long to admit that they got fucked over.

I think why most people are reluctant to out a shitty trader is because they want to believe that the person is a real genuine fellow BA community member and give people the benefit of the doubt and I think pride also plays a big part because I don't think people want to admit that they have been ripped off by some thieving son of a bitch. As previously stated by fellow BA's I agree that some kind of protocol for reporting needs to be made by vote or poll amongst the community.

I also think that folks are hesitant because they don't want to look like the asshole if the other dude makes good and is all like, "Hey asshole, why'd you out me?" Of course, good communication prevents this, as could a quick BM saying, "Hey, this has gone on to long or is getting sketchy...let me know what's up with like a tracking number soon or I'm going to have to out you." It's kind of tough to send that BM because, like you said, you don't want to be a dick/give folks the benefit of the doubt/etc.

I was getting a weird feeling about a trade because the new trader sent a tracking number, then recalled the package after he misunderstood my note saying I'd be going out of town unexpectedly (the note basically said, "I'll be there to get your box, but I have to leave town for a funeral and won't be able to ship to you until I get back in a few days"). I didn't hear back from him for a couple of days, only saw that the tracking number he provided was non-existent. BM'd again saying that the tracking number didn't work, and didn't hear back. So, I sent him a follow-up note saying, "Uh, that tracking number was bunk...I'm feeling a bit sketched out about that and the lack of communication, so I might throw up a 'trade with caution' post." The guy got back to me, we figured out where we had a misunderstanding, trade proceeded a bit delayed, and the dude ended up crushing the first box he put together AND providing a thank-you box with a sick Maltose Falcons homebrew club glass, taboot. I was worried that I'd come out looking like the jerk for saying that I was going to post about him, but he was totally understanding and cool about it. If a new trading partner isn't understanding and cool in that sort of a situation, then I'm not sure that I'd want to trade with them. Like somebody else said: folks should respect the expectation of communication and timeliness.

That is some bullshit. Doesn't shock me though. Spottedzombie is a douche. For a bit, I was considering picking a new username just because of that guy. Fuck him and good riddance. I see you've got the DL and bombers covered. Send me a BM and i'll send some dust.

Bad stuff happens but we have to do what's best for the majority, not the one person who may or may not be having a rough time in life.

Yeah, I think it was basically this that kept me waiting. He was responding once in a while, so I wanted to believe that he was a good community member, and I didn't want to alienate him if he was actually planning on making good with the trade. I probably should have posted sooner- oh well, lesson learned!
