Did a search and couldn't find a thread on this topic. I am yet to trade multiple times for the same beer. I'm very tempted to try and get my hands on some Dinner From the upcoming release, as well as Hardywood Gingerbread stout, but i'm having a hard time justifying the cost and labor of shipping for a beer i've already had. How about you guys? Have/ would you do this?

I've done it several times. I don't get ZD, Pliny, Heady, SOS, Second Fiddle, Daisy Cutter, etc. here in Atlanta and I've got to have that stuff.

I don't see why you wouldn't, if you enjoy the beer. Would you spend money on gas to drive to your bottle shop and buy a six pack you've had already?

I've traded a few times for Pliny, Nugget Nectar, and different vintages of Firestone Walker barrel-aged stuff.

Yes, but mostly stuff that is put out semi-regularly and is a go-to favorite that doesn't cost an arm and a leg in trade value. For example, I've traded several times for Dinner, Heady, BCBS. I have also traded for a whalish beer after having it and being blown away, like Assassin or OG Rare. But I have yet to trade multiple times for a huge beer like that. The price of admission is just too high for me, and I'd rather trade to get other high caliber beers I haven't tried.

If its the only way to get a desired beer, then ya gotta do...

I'm not an active trader, but have jumped at the chance for Wulver twice in my limited trade history. I would hope to find a good partner and repeat as desired more than trying to find multiple partners. But I'm old fashioned .

Yep, traded for Backwoods Bastard many times since moving out of Founders distro. My harassing of Founders to expand their distro has also increased.

I am actually impressed you did 67 trades without going after a beer that you loved twice. I do that all of the time.

I would definitely trade for a beer I've had before. If you like it that much and need more, then you do whatcha gotta do!

In practice though, I end up seeking out beers I may have only had a small taste of at an event or bottle share. If I decide I like something enough, I will trade for a full bottle of it to enjoy myself. I have also traded for beers (even local ones) that I had before after some time has passed since their release if I hear that they have been developing nicely over time.

I definitely evaluate how good I think a beer is in comparison to what it takes to pull, but there are tons of beers I'm always ISO: bcbcs, ffac, atrial, julius...

I've never traded for the same beer more than once but I have traded for a beer that I had already tried before: Last Snow because it's the shit and Marshal Zhukov for the same reason.

I traded for De Garde Oude Rruin and Green Man Bootsy twice. I loved them both very much.

I'd guess that some people trade for some of the seasonal type things that they know they like annually. For example I traded for Abrasive in Jan/Feb and then again when it came back out in November because I enjoyed it.
Or it could be something you were really more impressed with than you expected, as I was with Swish a month ago, I am definitely ISO now as there is nothing comparable in our area.

Well here's the thing though, did you do that because you liked it the first time or because you thought/knew you would like it the first time? Just curious-

But yea I trade for Julius monthly. Prop, Triple Sunshine, S&S #5, Pliny, amongst many others annually. As someone else mentioned above, I couldn't imagine going through that many trades and not finding something you wanted to drink again.
