So if we don't boycott everything, we can't boycott anything? Disagree. I choose not to live off the grid or grow my own food, and I drive a fossil-fueled car to work, but I can choose where some of my $$ goes, and I choose not to give it to companies that I don't agree with. Like ABInbev. Or Chik-fil-a, not that that's relevant on this forum.

Not sure if you were responding to my unicorn post, but no, I was not referring to you. I was speaking generally to those who are calling for boycotts and what not and who are likely to be supporting some business that acts in the same manner, or worse, than AB. The article itself, I enjoyed reading.

    Cheers!

Oops! Last post was supposed to be a private message, but oh well. And no, boycotting one thing does not mean you have to boycott all, but it should remind us to try to avoid aggressive attitudes towards those who might disagree. Thus, it is hard to take someone criticizing one's purchase of an AB InBev product when that person just finished their McDonald's lunch. We are all free to vote how we want with our dollars, but when we begin to act as if our spending is more justifiable or someone else's more negligent, it's a bit much. Especially when you may be comparing companies who monopolize be err to oh, let's say water. I'm looking at you Nestle!

Bad news. "Incentivize" has made it (along with the even worse "incent" :grimacing:) into the dictionary so it counts as a word even outside management meetings. :slight_frown:

There are some people (taking a guess now - including many who might post on a BeerAdvocate forum) who happen to care much more about the US brewing industry than the cell phone industry or the fast food industry.

I'm guessing that there's a guy right now down at the local mom 'n' pop restaurant bitchin' about the garbage they sell at that new McDonald's down at the Interstate exit while sippin' on a Bud Light.

And another guy using the pay phone in the same joint - 'cause no way is he ever going to carry around one of those !@#$ infernal Cell-U-R phones in his bib overall's pocket - a stack of quarters next to his Miller High Life and a lit Marlboro Light on that little shelf under the phone.

Everybody gets to pick their own windmills * to battle. (Falls under "the pursuit of happiness" clause). Let he who is without any contradictions in his own life cast that first stone**.

    *Not a reference to Heineken.

**Neither a reference to Stone Brewing Co.
    or Coors' Keystone brand.

After looking at the articles and some of the comments in this thread I'd say that its time to change the perspective on this move by ABInBev.

Rather than view it as an attack on craft brewing, view it as a defensive move that reflects the need to try and shore up their distributor base and prevent the loss of distributors who may be thinking of defecting in pursuit of greater profits. It's a lot like trying to stop the flow of water out of holes in the dam.

It depends on whether people are against Inbev because they're a large corporation, or because they have crappy products and are trying to bully people. I'm about as capitalist as they come, but I still choose to support local businesses, restaurants, breweries as much as I can. THAT is capitalism, too

Big difference between that attitude and the "Occupy Wall St" ignoramuses that claim to hate all businesses, but start the day with Starbucks, and bitch on Twitter from their iPhones.

Yes, that's a totally valid comparison. Everyone should ditch Apple and Samsung and start supporting their local, small batch, independent owned cellphone producers.

Sounds like the old "payola" from the music industry in the 60's. Radio stations were paid under the table to play specific artists songs over the air to increase sales. And for the same reason, the major labels forced the distribution of their product to keep the little guy and start up labels from a level playing field.

Reaffirms my position to buy virtually zero product from the AB InBev, etc., even though I like the beer (Example Goose Island IPA)

USPS could use the financial boost.
