Only the regular version hit distro (just mentioning here so people don't start truck chasing for Vanilla).

While you're right and it's nice of you to mention, do you really want to stop truck chasers from following trucks of imaginary beer?

Pretty sure Mecha Hugs is the BA version of big hugs. They brought it to fobab last year and it shows up in the taproom and for parties every once in a while. It's s fantastic beer.

How long have they been dating their cans? I bought some GoneAway last week dated 11/30.

If I'm not mistaken they started dating around 11/24...

Awesome. Freshness isn't an issue (usually) for the seasonals like GoneAway and Vallejo, but I could see Daisy Cutter sitting. Glad they're dating them now!

Anyone have some of the Lychee IPA they released just before Christmas? I was thinking of grabbing a growler of it to take to a buddy's for NYE.

I bought a bomber before xmas. I thought it was just OK. I'm not super familiar with lychee, but I was hoping for something more tropical in taste and a little hoppier. That said, my expectations let me down more than the beer did. I enjoyed it, but in the end, it kind of felt like a collab.

Stopped in for a pint last week, the day they tapped it. More tart than juicy/fruity. I was initially turned off, but found it more enjoyable as I worked through the pint. Didn't enjoy enough to fill a growler tho.

Not the highest recommendations, but I may go for one tomorrow when they open anyway. It's either that or Hophazardly from Begyle. I've already got Mathias from Haymarket in a growler, and looking for one more to bring to the NYE/Michigan St. playoff game party I'm going to.

I love lychee, but I couldn't pick it out with the Lychee IPA - that being said, it was just ok but also grew on me as I drank it. Not sure about a growler though...

It's for sharing, but of course maybe I'll end up drinking it all. If MSU is playing well, I won't even care!

Anyone else getting excited for their kitchen to open? Or seen/heard early info about their menu? I'm getting some of my buddies together on the 15th or 16th to check out a couple breweries, so this definitely got me interested to check out. Only downside is if it'll be even busier with people seeing what it's like.

I thought it was enjoyable. Lychee sort of added a subtle creaminess sort of like lactose in a stout. Some pineapple, tropical notes (not super hoppy). I will say I tried it in the tap room and the bottle I got to go did taste a little different, less tropical.

Lychee IPA was good, but it was hard to tell there was Lychee. I had Maple Big Hugs and thought it was too sweet. I ordered 16oz and wish I had just ordered the smaller size.

No I'm not actually excited for this at all if the general size for the taproom doesn't increase. It's already hard to get a seat in there without food. Offering food is only going to increase people's stay time and offer an incentive for those that would not have previously seeked out half acre a chance to get a meal.

I'm all for half acre to maximize their return and make money, but if that means even less of a chance to sit down and relax in an already loud environment, well fuck

I'm with @Vitamin_Hop on this one. It's already a fairly cramped space so adding a new element to the mix is only going to make it that much crazier. I also personally loved going in there with some friends on a cold winter's day, bringing some cards, ordering a pizza, and just hanging out and doing our own thing. It'll be a shame to see that go.

Having said that, though, I have to imagine the food is going to be outstanding. I absolutely loved the grilled cheese/tomato soup they were passing out at the Big Hugs release. Once I actually can get in there, I am sure I'll totally love all they're offering.

Didn't see this posted yet - next "limited-but-not-really-we-brew-this-multiple-times-a-year-now" Double Daisy Cutter release:

    http://www.halfacrebeer.com/news/2016/1/29/double-daisy-cutter

Double Daisy Cutter in bombers again.

Wake me up when they release this (preferably GDDC) in cans at a reasonable price.

I was actually just going to post "wish this were in cans" before I read your can comment. I don't get it. Beer Hates Astronauts in cans was one of the best things that HA did, in my opinion.

I also think it's time to start offering Double Daisy (or Navaja) year-round. Doesn't make sense to me that they don't have a year-round DIPA.
