So, for the first time ever I bought a hoppy beer without a bottle date. As per my ritual, I religiously check bottle dates on IPAs and other hoppy concoctions to make sure they're fresh before buying them. This time, (the only time) I decided to bravely forego this process and grabbed a beer because it just looked promising and right up my alley. The beer, you ask? Evil Twin's Mosaic Single Hop Imperial India Pale American Wheat Lager. Get home, crack it open and it's a malty abortion. So, I check it out online and come to find that it was a limited addition beer brewed in December of 2014! What a waste of $11.99! Because I am a poor college student I rarely spend more than $8 on a beer, let alone $12. Needless to say, I will never be making that mistake again. I feel ripped off by Evil Twin for not using bottle dates, the bottle shop for selling this stale swill, and myself for being so stupid. Never again!!!!
P.S. All you a-holes claiming those who check bottle dates are just a bunch of pretentious sissies are the same a-holes that try and deny climate change. It's science! Hops fade! Long story short, I just spent $12 on a mediocre wheat lager.

First and last time you'll probably do it. I very very rarely pull the trigger on hoppy undated beers u less I know it's a seasonal that recently released.

If you spend $8 on a SINGLE beer regularly, you aren't really a poor college student.

Also, what's with the angry P.S.?

Step one, avoid Evil Twin IPAs. They aren't very good to begin with and overpriced.

But climate change isn't real. The ice caps are melting because the polar bears have too many fish to eat and are farting at an all-time high. We just need to kill off these endangered species first!

Have you checked with the retailer to see if they will make it right? If a quick call there doesn't help, contact the brewery. Most breweries will take this issue seriously. The last thing they want is a dissatisfied customer.

The Government, who has been spraying our skies with aluminum and other chemicals for years and years have created climate change....by design. ;-P

Sorry about your $11.99 loss. Next time if there's no bottle date, check with the beer Guy who should know how long it's been on the shelf.

I feel your pain. I bought a Knee Deep Brewing Simtra without a bottle date knowing I was taking a risk. And when I got home popped the cap and began to pour, and it was not the hop bomb I was expecting. It was not very hoppy and I thought at the time it was an old bottle. I will not buy another hoppy beer without a date unless I know it's a seasonal. $10 for an old IIPA is a waste.

Ya I mostly blame myself... I hear you on the angry part. I'm putting it upon myself to have at the least a 1 hour cool down period before posting anything on the internet or reacting to most things in general. Probably would have been less rage-infused. My bad. Finally, every time I inject even a hint of politics in any social forum I immediately regret it and swear to do it never again. Maybe the 9,000,001st time will be a charm.

One time I bought some Lagunitas daytime. The current Julian day was around 300 and the date was something like 280 on the bottle. He'll Ya fresh beer!! Got home, looked at it again at the year was a 4 not a 5 so it was from 2014. Almost an entire year old six pack! They tasted watery, still decent, and I emailed lagunitas they sent me 2 Mason jar glasses and a bottle opener. They rule man I love Lagunitas. Never have stopped drinking them and never will.

Don't know I support more...the bottle date movement or the anti bomber movement

    Time for some brewer responsibility

Yes - can't understand point of bombers, particularly those with high ABV. Some have the alcohol content of a macro 6-pack. I expect not many of us share our beers, not really excited about re-sealing it, so that bomber will be consumed in a sitting. I don't drink craft to get drunk, but almost no choice with some bombers, hence the name. Still I buy them occasionally, when something like Project Pam is not available in smaller doses. How about 16-18oz bombers instead?
