So it doesn't have to be a craft beer. Like in my case the beer that changed me was Honey Brown. It was like that scene in the Simpsons when Homer's mom sees Joe Namath for the first time and her world flipped. That's how it was for me, especially since the last beer I had previously was a forty Schlitz.

In terms of American beer, Brooklyn, goose island, snpa. Then looked out for other beers from these breweries. I was already into the English, German and Belgian beer scenes before this.

I have always loved fall, and my first semester of law school I went into my local supermarket and saw Sam Adams Octoberfest. In college I had disliked beer in general, and later would start drinking ice cold bud light exclusively.

I picked up a six pack of it and from that point on was hooked. I still have a soft spot for SA Octoberfest (and the SA Christmas beers - so glad they brought Holiday Porter back) and buy a ton every year, even though I know there are "better" beers out there for that style.

    Cheers!

Bud Light. It was my first beer and I just thought, "it has to get better than this."

    I was so right.

It is hard to remember. Years ago, my wife and I took an eight day bus tour to the west. At one overnight stop, there was a barbecue with a band and lots of beer. One beer caught my attention because of its name. It was called Polygamy Porter brewed by Wasatch Beers. Since we were in Utah I thought it was funny. I have no idea if this was/is a craft beer but it opened my eyes to the fact that there was more than Miller or Bud in the world.

Bud light golden wheat, it was the first beer I had that wasn't a normal aal or ice beer, after it was discontinued I found boulevard wheat and now here I am.

I would say BlueMoon... because it was the first Domestic non Miller lite type beer I ever had. The true eye opening came from Widmer Drifter... Such hoppy goodness (at the time). Too bad they dont make it anymore.

It was a combination of Sixpoint Bengali and Long Trail Limbo. Didn't get into really chasing the Whalez and whatnot until I had a Heady, a Pliny and a Mastermind at the same party. That was the bigger tipping point.

Yuengling black & tan in the pounder cans got me started with drinking craft beers in roughly '92. Then moved to Yuengling porter, then Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. After that, the sky's opened up...
