Nice box! Jealous of the psuedo Sue! Made in decorah, not from brew hub in FL. Haven't gotten to try the recent batches, but I've heard it's top notch! I would say drink the darkness soon, but not ASAP. It's cool to try fresh to understand how it starts out. Hopefully you'll be lucky enough to get some more in the future to age or a vintage bottle. Cheers!
A few delayed VBSs courtesy of members of the newbie BIF! From @Eziel. Very fun to dig into some fun beers from this brewery. Just had my first bottles from them this year. This one is a new tick! Lots of spice coming through and a subtle nuttiness. Next up is from @Greeny87 from the most recent round here. Tired hands sticky drippy crystals. Very odd beer. Not what I was expecting. Was thinking it'd be dark and Stout like with honey. Pours a golden color and has a defi ite sour/Brett edge. A touch floral and a minor honey hint. Cool beer but a wild card! Thanks Andrew! Finally, a late VBS from last night, again from @Eziel Forgot a photo, but this was a fun beer - PaPaws Red from country boy. New tick and nee brewery tick! Mega bourbon barrel. Thanks Eric!
Got home from a long day at work and was greeted by an awesome box from @JPond4! First and foremost, thanks! Some great swag to start with: The beer-related swag was a pilsner and tulip glass from russian river, along with a rare barrel shirt and (what I assume is) a drawer pull. Excited to have all of it! Some non-beer related swag: Gave me a good laugh as I was pulling these out. I actually ran out of coffee this morning, so tomorrow I'm going to treat myself to some of this Brazilian delight. The rest of it will get eaten...maybe not the tuna. Onto the main event: The Russian River group 1) STS pils - one of my favorite breweries, and a beer I've never had from them, awesome! 2) Pliny the elder - I used to live in Oregon and pliny was my favorite, haven't had it in a while and can't wait to revisit it. 3) Blind pig - Always seemed harder to come by than pliny, only tried it twice and am really excited to have another! The Firestone Walker group: 4) Double DBA - Beer I've never had from a great brewery, style I love, yes please! 5) Sucaba - Major want here, tried a sip a while back and loved it, so excited to have a bottle! 6) Stickee Monkee - A favorite of mine from FW, really happy to have another. The group which belongs to no group: 7) Big Bad Baptist from Epic Brewing - Should've been a want, looks like an awesome barrel aged stout, cant wait! 8) Map of the Sun from The Rare Barrel - An apricot sour from a great brewery I've never had anything from, can't get this into a glass soon enough! 9) Imperial stout from Joseph James - Great looking local, looking forward to trying it. Finally, the group shot: Thanks for the truly great box @JPond4! I realized I didn't give you much to go on, but you just crushed it. I'm really excited to crack some of these open soon.
Okay at this time the CIF is officially closed and someone who has yet to be determined will be receiving a nice box of red chair cushions and possibly a beer or two. Box is already loaded and will be shipped today.
Ha the food spread is hilarious, definitely the first time I've seen this. I think the wooden thing from the rare barrel is a yopener style bottle opener. Normally, one side will have a bolt with a big flat head. You use the wooden bar to set on top of bottle and line the bolt upbwith the edge of the cap and pry off. The opener should keep the cap perfectly flat, which is awesome if you save caps!
@sembo Oh yeah, I get that now, that's cool. I puzzled over it for a bit but couldn't really figure out what it was.
Keep in mind this is coming from the guy that hasn't been able to make it over to my place for a bottle share the last two times because he has a church youth group he attends every Wednesday evening......

I was just wondering if your targets box landed yet. Can't wait to see this one. I'm still drooling over the box you sent in round 1.
The fact that I skipped reading "saison" and just focused on "brewed with honey" and "aged on oak". User error ha. I should have known from trying Tired Hands in the past that it would be a farmhouse saision style.
My target should know @beluga92 I'm glad you enjoyed the box, and got a kick out of my randomness. I had been drinking a few myself and thought it would be funny to raid my pantry for the oddest swag of the BIF. I'd love to say that the coffee was my idea, but you have this lady to thank on that one- She brings back 8 or 10 pounds of that coffee every time she goes down to Brazil and thought she would save you from my randomness by throwing one in the box. I hear barrel aged barleywine pairs beautifully with cup o noodles.
