Thank you @LeperJim for having another cool day for us here in WBAYDN! I have a beer chilling that I think is dark enough. :grinning: AND it snowed a little.

Happy Day of the Dark BAs. Kicking off the day by dropping a bomb on my septic system, but am now dropping another BOMB! on the suitors of my DOTD title. Keep in mind that last years runner up @RPH2327 (along with Buzz and Rex) have not been heard from since. Have a dark day & thanks to @LeperJim for his contributions to this fine beer community. Cheers.

(Thought I'd show off my trophy from last year)

Well, I originally was going to drink a Hipster Brunch and watch The Cheat, a silent film. Then I see this Day of the Dark Celebration here so I have changed course.

Now..starting off the day with a bang and opened a Bell's Black Note Stout. So good and very dark.

The film I'll watch instead is a 1945 B movie. An exploitation drama called "Black Market Babies". This looks like some good cheap movie fun.

Cheers and turn out the lights...

Smells like coffee...tastes like victory. Can't wait to clean the shower later. No tongue in cheek reference here, I actually have to get on my hands and knees to scrub what seems like miles of grout. Dark Day indeed. Cheers

Good Morning BA, happy Saturday! I have chosen an assortment of dark things to enjoy this morning.

My go-to winter seasonal brown ale. Big robust flavors of chocolate, cocoa, toasted biscuit, and nutty malts; with some light herbal/floral/spicy hops and balanced roasted bittersweet finish. Nice medium bodied creamy mouthfeel with a touch of roast malt and hop stickiness. Always love this stuff. Its on the roasty side of the brown ale spectrum, but it's not overdone to the point that makes it feel like a porter.

Always excellent Belgian stout. Big flavors of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, and toasty/biscuit malts; balanced by raisin, plum, fig, cherry, clove, and light pepper/banana yeast ester flavors. Balanced yeast spice/roasted bittersweet finish; with a really nice creamy medium-full bodied mouthfeel. Glad they brought this back after a 3 year absence. I hope it returns. I should have purchased more than 1 6 pack initially.

Wow, fantastic stuff! Big flavors of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, cream, chile pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and toasted dark bread; with herbal/spice earthiness. Balanced bittersweet roasted and cinnamon/pepper spiced finish; with a creamy/silky medium-full body. Very smooth sipping with minimal warming pepper heat. Incredibly well balanced between the malt and spice flavors. This is extremely similar to Odd Side Mayan Mocha(as expected), but the overall balance of the spice is better for the freshness of this one. Outstanding stuff, I grabbed a couple singles, but I think I should just go get a 6 pack now.

Cracking open my last EMJ from the original batch sent to MI, making this at least 18 months old. This is just as insane as it was last time I had one. Enormous flavors of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, fudge, dark bread, raisin, prune, licorice, tobacco, smoke, and light leather/char. Bittersweet balanced dense full bodied creamy/silky/slick finish; lightly warming ABV, zero booziness. One of my top Imperial stouts of all time. A bit steep on price on the recent shipment, but I can justify it for enjoying every once in a long while. Insanely complex stuff.

    Cheers! Enjoy your Saturday BA

I'll be right there with you.
Not in the reach around sense, but I'll be scrubbing the shower as well.
But with a more manly beer.

Good morning, BA's. This will be a frantic pre-Christmas Saturday and I'll be fighting traffic and mall parking lots. I plan on sampling some German beers later but in honor of TDOTD, I'm enjoying this American dark wheat ale this morning. It's very good. Cheers!
