Best/Worst Trade Extras

Best: Rose De Gambrinus
Runner up: Heady, Everett, and a Nightshift bottle
Worst: haven't gotten any really BAD extras. Once or twice I've shipped a couple of quality bottles only to receive a mediocre shelf beer, but I can't complain.

 

Best - King Henry in 2011, Gose, Heady, ZD.

Worst - Extras are a bonus of generosity. Would never complain about them.

 

Being one of the guys that has been hooked up by this awesome BA, I can say that seeing the CR in a small trade for Bruery's Sucre was nothing short of incredible. Easily the coolest extra I've ever gotten, and definitely inspired me to bomb people's porches in return!

 

That's what I'm talking about ^!!! We need more of this on here!!

 

Everett, Arthur, Night Shift Berliner, and a mixer of Night Shift cans...in the same box. Never trade with @F2brewers. He's the worst. Seriously, the worst.

Haha, well played. And I couldn't even keep my Hill ancestry in line -- it was Earl, not Everett, but who's counting?

 

Best extras received: consecration, supplication, degrade stone bu and Nelson hose, east bank and yellow rose from what I remember. These were from a few separate trades with a regular trader. Defintely my best trading relationship as we always hook each other up.

Best extras given: cafe americano, last snow, HF Anna and seasonal creep etc Florida locals (cycle and ccb crowlers/shelf beers)

Worst: I usually always add at least a few extras but there were a few boxes where I either forgot or didn't have any on hand and had to ship quickly. Same has happened on boxes received but I never expect extras unless it is spoken about and am always thrilled by any surprise beers.

 

Best extra I've ever gotten was a Framboise Noir from AC Golden. That beer is amazing and very limited to boot.

 

Oh yeah he also threw me a kriek from AC golden and ska brewing sour that I haven't had yet. Both sound amazing.

 

Best extra I've gotten was Smooth Criminal. Worst was a Cigar City Sugar Plum Porter (just not a good beer).

Best I've given out: Sucaba, Southern Charred, Pliny, OG Nelson, Beatitude

 

The best extras I ever received was Huna and a 3 year old Darkness. Same trader. Super nice guy!

 

Slightly off topic but I thought of them as "extras" at the time.

Early in my trading days I got a box from a typical trade that had rice and corn in it for that "liquid distraction effect". Unpacked everything and put the box aside in storage. Went back to reuse the box for a shipment on a new trade not a week later and did a little box housecleaning. It was full of ******s chowing down on the food.

Not sure where the box had been stored before but I was glad all the beer was sealed!

I tossed the box.

 

have included a westy XII - shelf cantillon bonus in every shipment until now, trying to continue that, space permitting, as shipping international is a real pain.

 

Always crazy to read about some of the rare/pricey beer that people get as extras. I've gotten some very solid beer as extras, but never anything I would trade for on its own.

I always try to bring my A game for extras, because I myself love surprises. My best were RR Consecration, All Green Everything, Alter Ego, Bomb! -- but always try to include beer I would lose my sh*t over getting as a present.

I got a bottle of Zombie Dust once and it got me hooked, I love that stuff and trade for it when I can, I also received a bottle of BCBCS '13. It was a year old and even though the coffee faded a little it was the best stout I've had probably still.

 

I'm new to trading but I got a 077XX as an extra and it made my day, I was so excited to try it. I love extras almost as much as the agreed upon trade. In fact I'm boxing up a Darkness right now as part of a 1:1 trade. Hope my trade partner likes his extras

 

I am new to trading. Is it frowned upon to slip a few bottles of homebrew in as extras to round out a shipping container?

 

They're called extras for a reason. Also, that is a fine, fine extra.

 

On my past few trades I've been giving bottles from my cellar if no rules outlined in trade for the extras. Wanted to get a consensus on giving cellared beer. What do most people want! What do you send as extras?
