In general breweries do allocations to distributors based on sales. In general distributors do allocations to retailers based on sales.

Hahahahahaha, I would immediately turn around and walk out. It's a beer, not some royal beverage infused with diamonds and unicorn tears.

I had to buy a 4 or 6 pack of another Founders beer this year in order to buy one KBS at a local shop. It is annoying but luckily I like other Founders beers so it wasn't terrible this time around.

The price for bcbs was 11.99 which isn't bad, and their beers aren't bad I'm just not a huge fan and it wasn't about the money because I spend stupid amounts of money on beer all the time. Just making the customer do that seemed odd to me.

I will not buy beer in a place that holds special releases for ransom. I will overpay at times for the sake of convenience, but I refuse to buy something else in order to what I really want. I approach buying beer like I do other groceries. No supermarket makes me buy a pound of chuck to purchase a porterhouse.

One of our shops here pulled this shit. Had to buy a 6 pack of goose island beers which were all 6 or more months old. They also decided to jack the price of a 6 pack of zombie dust to 19.99. We wont shop there anymore.

If any local store tries to pull this crap on me, it'll be my last time shopping there.

    Take your business elsewhere!

I understand walking out just out of principle, I probably would too. But on the other hand, if this is one of the few places you have found it for a decent price, and you also buy other GI products on a relatively regular basis, this might be a good deal if you're able to leave the emotion out of it. All that being said, I would probably tell them to fuck themselves.

Correct. I should have said that for the most part, allocations are based on sales numbers. There are exceptions to that as there are exceptions to everything

No one is "forcing" anyone to buy anything. You decide.

The bottle shop has the right to do what is best for their business within the rules of each state. i'm fine with that. I have no "right" to anything.

People have a choice to buy or not and choice to go back or not.

    Am I missing something?

Exactly. It happens at all "tiers". As a distributor selling both beer and wine, some of my suppliers would set "required" quantities of slower moving- or dead- goods to get a bit of the sought after items. I always despised the practice and would limit my business with the practitioners as much as possible.

I am not saying its right, but I've seen it happen a lot. Not just with AB. I've seen this more withFounders KBS than I have with BCS.
