List of brewery's in attendance is growing... Wish I knew what they were bringing with them.

Beers are usually announced a week or two prior, some a little sooner. Sometimes the one offs don't work or aren't ready in time so they wait to announce when they have the kegs filled and ready to head to CLT. Have faith in @marine1975 and @brawleys to put out the best lineup of beers you will see for a venue of this size....they always do.

I'll be submitting an events page on BA in the next few days. I'll post all updates to it as well as the Black and Blue twitter account. @NoMoreBeerBelly thanks for keeping the faith but, Brawley and myself can take no credit for the beer offerings. All credit goes to the breweries in attendance. They always seem to bring the heat!

    Cheers!

Well you can take a little credit. I don't know what you say to these breweries, but whatever it is, it works. No one else gets the lineup you get!

I got invited to go to this, what should I expect? Brewery rarities from those listed? Lots of drunkeness?

Looking forward to a weekend in Charlotte catching up with my beer buddies, and cracking some amazing beers starting Friday!

I would say most breweries either bring some rarities and/or brew some one-off's. Here is most of the list from last year (there were more beers than this list indicates): http://www.beeradvocate.com/events/info/71542/

Define drunkenness? Lots of people getting drunk? Yes. Lots of people acting drunk. No. This crowd is usually the "serious" beer nerds and not the "lets get hammered and act like an asshole" crowd. Be prepared though. The pours are very generous, especially later in the evening. These aren't your little 2oz tasting glass filled with half head. Arrange a ride home. The first hour can be very crowded but the lines for beer are never long...just lots of people standing around. After that it really opens up.

UNC Duke is that night so expect a big crowd around the TV's around 8ish (assuming that an 8pm tip off).

Like you said, even when people get drunk - and most do, just like NC Rare, just like Brewvival - they're not brodawgs taking their shirts off and starting fights. General jocularity rules the evening, and you will get healthy pours of beers if you want them. I remember a few years ago when we were all drinking "EventSlams," 10 oz. black and tans of Hopslam and Event Horizon. Those were hazy, fun times.

Ha. I "remember" one year they were doing full pours of Mexican Cake at last call. We gave our cabbie like a $30 tip (on a $20 fare) because I couldn't count or do any math.

Also - Pro Tip: EAT BIG before you go. The 6pm start time throws some people off and go in on an empty stomach. Don't. Last year Mike bought some pizzas for everyone around 9 but don't wait for or expect it.

Thanks @NoMoreBeerBelly, that helps a lot, good to hear on the no small ass 2 oz pours, I guess the closest thing I've been too like black and blue is Savor last June...didn't help that we started popping tops at 2:30'ish for a 7 pm beer event...then I dragged my 2 buddies out to a bar for wicked weed tap takeover after savor! Sunday was not fun!

Staying with a buddy in Matthews, he's assured me, it'll be uber there and back...big meal, check, we did the same for savor, but big ass subs from the Italian store in Arlington before we walked to the event.

I'm not that asshole guy when I get loaded, neither are my friends, just beer geeks. We may be pouring something pre and post event, haven't heard the details, coming down with a Brewer in VA...

Math is hard when I'm banged out...Friday nite will be a bottle share at my buddies place in Matthews I think, I wanna hit a few places before black and blue, should make Saturday nite even more interesting... I've been looking forward to this for a while, since I was invited.

@HopAttack3 I don't recommend pre gaming before B&B and if you do it right while at B&B there will be no need for a post event! Glad you are coming down and enjoying what will be a fun filled night of awesome beer and some great music! Our band this year is Strung Like a Horse http://www.strunglikeahorse.com/

Oh, and you sounded like a nice guy right up until your last comment! #goheels

Yea, I know, same was said about savor, and we opened some nice bottles that day...I wanna hit Heist, Salud and Birdsong, a quick pour or 2, and a large meal. Then I'll be ready to roll.

I also can't like your post because of your last sentence!

Trying to figure out Friday logistics now, I wanna be at my buddies house by no later than 4pm on Friday, Charlotte people like to think their traffic is worse than DC metro, that's really cute hearing that from NC people...if it's one thing DC metro excels in, it's god foresaken traffic.

I moved down from Maryland 2 years ago and now live in Matthews. Our traffic is nowhere near as bad as DC. Just don't come down 77 Friday afternoon. It's only 2 lanes each way and can't support the flow of traffic. I recommend 95 to 85 as long as you can get out of the mixing bowl and past Fredericksburg easily enough. 85 to 485 into Matthews is a breeze.
