Hey everyone - just figured I would drop a note on the NW forum to say: 1. happy holidays 2. hope you are all well 3. anything crazy new in the NW that i have missed over the past few months? 4. any requests for beers from Cali?
Not sure if this qualifies, but if you plan on driving back home, Growler Guys Eugene currently is doing growler fills of Crux Tough Love for $26.99 a pop. A bit spendy, no doubt, but then so are the bottles of TL. :-)
staying down here for the holidays so unfortunately wont be getting a fill...a buddy of mine is in bend and texted me a pic of him getting a crowler of RPM, Hop Venom, and Notorious...what a jerk.
Well, thanks to reasonable bottle limits, hand trucks have been mercifully absent from what I've heard. But hordes bearing wine bags are now, alas, en vogue here. Holy Mountain and Reuben's sounded like the worse. Fremont, thankfully, hasn't been so bad (it helps that they can make more of their most coveted offerings). Perhaps most damning of all, I understand there were even queues outside of various establishments early on Black Friday greedy for certain AB InBev products. It's a Brave New World up here, and it sort of resembles, dare I say, Illinois...
You ever get down to San Diego in the winter, or are you talking Crescent City? I would just get a few cases of Modern Times "Booming Rollers" IPA if it shows up as the early spring varietal again and hand them out to everyone you know who likes beer.
I havent had Booming Rollers but we get quite a bit of Modern Times up here...really good stuff. Their latest IPA I have seen is called City of the Sun and is very nice...I will keep an eye out for Booming Rollers and hit you up. I will be back in Seattle in mid June so the timing might work well for me to just bring some up with me then.
Oh dear. I remember HM getting more and more crowded for each bottle release before I left town...i miss the days of being able to walk there but there is some good beer down here too so I can't really complain and aside from Rare Barrel and Russian River the lines/crowds arent too bad. I guess when you make amazing beer like @HolyMtn it is to be expected...if anyone ever is able to get an extra bottle or two of theirs please let me know and I can try to find some good stuff from down here to trade you for it...makes me sad seeing all these awesome beers come out that I will likely never get to try...at one point i had tried like 39 of their 45 beers on this site...now I am down to 39 of 70
The last Holy Mountain release (Grisette and Cascade Table sour) was great. And even with a 1-2 per person limit there were still bottles of both still at the brewery last Wednesday.
Honestly I havent tried one...I havent seen it around at all and while Ive been up to Petaluma, Sanoma and Napa I haven't made it to Santa Rosa. I am going to do some research right now where I might be able to find some on tap in the South Bay and SF area and will seek some out. Hope all is well with you and let me know if you are ever in the area or are looking for something that is only distributed down here.
my research only took me a few minutes Looks like they send beer to one of my favorite new spots that is walking distance from my new place - Gourmet Haus Stadt so hopefully i will see some there soon. They also look like they have quite a bit of places in SF they send beer to and I am heading into the city tomorrow so I will keep an eye out.
Cheers to you and happy New Year! Fortunately we live in times where there is wonderful beer where ever you might be.
