    Great Divide Hibernation Ale

It's almost 3:30 PM here in Sweden and there's not much sun light left. USA / Sweden are playing each other in the amateur hockey championship, and I'm enjoying this assertively hopped old ale.

There's more of this stuff in stores around here, too, which works for me. Coffee (espresso?), brownie chocolate, little smokiness (from an indistinct source ). Cheers, all you EMBAs!

*Sigh* Let's not chase off people who enjoy participating in this site just because they don't meet your rigid standards.

but to be fair...we should be consistent in enforcement of the spirit of WBAYDN....

@SammyJaxxxx is spot on in his message...

and I have been a "bitch" about it on occasion...

but I see the trend increasing...and don't feel like engaging every "violator" of the communal intent of sipping/quaffing in the NOW....with WBAYDN compatriots in the moment

i almost did to a couple over the weekend...but they were relative newbies to the thread and I didn't want to scare them off (rather would like to increase awareness...rectify the transgression)

I see too many (rookies/veterans alike) who post a string of what they had...what they will have...what they purchased...all past/future tense...

I am sure there are some who feel this strict adherance to the NOW to be pissy/whiny and will disregard it (no offense intended...none taken....just sharing perspective)

there are many who feel as I...as they let me know when I launch a well-intended rant

there are also those who don't care about parameters/intent...(and many who "like" them no matter)

All good...Freedom of Speech....(it is just a site/thread...in the big picture of life)...I get it

Cheers to you...welcome to the show...fill a glass and share pic/post/music and perspective

preferably in the now...it is so much purer and sweeter when you/we all engage as such

    Enjoy the day BA's

A cold and windy morning filled with freezing rain. I'm glad I have nothing planned on such a miserable day. A perfect occasion to enjoy one of my favorites while lying on the couch listening to the rain on the skylights. Cheers to a new week and year ahead!

Morning BA's after this weekend I decided on a 1 beer day. I wanted something clean and refreshing after a pallet buster holiday weekend. I start work in 8-12 hours and just wanned something to sit with and watch tv. So I tried my first DAB original. This is my first dortmunder lager and it really wasn't half bad. It had that clean and crisp lawnmower drinker feel of an AAJ or EPL with a sharp but light bitterness from spicy floral hops and a crackery grain malt. Ill post my review under the photo. Cheers! Oh and P.S. some of that white stuff decided to stick around lol :stuck_out_tongue:[IMG]
    DAB Original
    3.31/5 rDev +0.9%
    look: 4 | smell: 3 | taste: 3 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.75

Appearance - poured from a 16 fl oz/500ml can into a 16 oz weizenglass, this beer pours an extremely clear golden straw color with 2 fingers of white foamy head that receed to a film over the top of the beer after 5 mins. Carbonation seems average, It looks pretty good in the glass.

Aroma - Spicy floral hops, buscuit/grainy malts, that clean fresh spring water smell you get from most lagers.

Taste - spicy and floral hops are at the for front of this beer with a light but sharp bitterness, they are followed by cracker like grainy malts and then it finishes dry with that clean lager flavor, very smooth.

Feel - Mouth feel is light and watery, which is kind of expected of a lager the carbonation does give a nice refreshing tingle and the beer goes down dry.

Overall - This was my first dortmunder lager but the style guidelines seem simple enough to follow without that much experience. It personally isn't my favorite style but judging it objectively it is much better than an AAJ, It has more flavor and the same crisp clean lawnmower feel. The bitterness seems abit strong for the guidelines but I liked it and If the choice was budweiser or dab, I would take the dab all day. Cheers!
