Brother sent me this atrocity the other week... I don't know who I dislike more, the shop for their price or myself for still wanting to taste 23.

Not to defend the price, but that's not a normal bottling of Pappy 23. It came from specially selected barrels and it was a one off release from a few years ago, in even more limited supply than normal. It's also barrel strength (114 proof vs 90~ proof).

i doubt it's "barrel strength" as 114° is the OG barrel entry proof on the product. i think they watered it back down to *entry proof* instead of normal, lower, bottling proof... rather than it miraculously riding out 23 years in barrels arriving at exactly the same proof as it went in. also. unless it's changed recently, pretty sure regular PVW23 runs around 95.6° or so - not 90°.

Yeah that was off the top of my head but the difference still stands in broad strokes.

mos' def. & mainly nitpicking on the grounds that i've seen sellers misstating the particular 23 as "barrel strength" as a selling point. the other nitpick with the advertised product, i'm pretty sure the decanter technically runs under the "Old Rip" moniker, not "Pappy". the seller just knows the name "Pappy" = $,$$$'s.

I'm sure it has all been gone for a long time, but has anyone seen any Coffee or Regal Rye near the San Luis Obispo area? I have a cousin there for the next week and he is willing to bring a few things home if I can locate them. I know a few places have Rare (for ridiculous prices), but none of the places I called had or had ever seen Regal or Coffee. Thanks in Advance.

Cork 'N' Bottle in SLO said over the phone that Rare was priced at $270. A Part of me thinks he was confused as to what I was asking about, but part of me thinks that's probably correct considering they had Vanilla Rye for $150 the year before.

Finally ABInBev is living up to its promise for craft beer-- you can pick up former whales at the gas station on the way to doing a little shootin in the desert. BCBS is excellent with a Bud MangoRita chaser.
