IMO Pliny is far better than Kern's Just Outstanding.....

The Total Wine in Northridge has stopped carrying Blind Pig and PTE it seems. Maybe there is a conspiracy.

Anyone that says that either one of these stellar brews is "better" than the other is just nuts

I personally think Pliny is better, but the boos seem a bit harsh. The manager is entitled to his opinion. It's not like he said Pliny is bad, just that he likes another brew more. Heaven forbid!

People really care if somebody doesn't like a beer they do? Some people really take this shit too far.

Man what can you say, when there is a cult following, there is a following. That's like if some one said The Tuxedo was as good as The Big Lebowski (since both are cases of mistaken identities) at a Lebowski fest. Well that maybe a bad reference but you get the point. Pliny has a strong following so any "besmirching" is gonna get an uproar.

Just outstanding is a fine beer that I'd be happy to buy. If Pliny is sitting next to it, though, I'm going with that every single time.

Out of curiosity, is Pliny getting easier to find in SoCal? I've been out there four times in the last couple of years and I've been able to find it, but it isn't every where. I know BevMo wasn't carrying it any more because, according to their manager, they couldn't assure refrigeration at every level of distro.

Pliny is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Just Okay and I am not one of the people who praises Pliny incessantly.

I don't get it. From the article it sounds like they were booing the comparison of Just Outstanding to Pliny—which isn't the same as booing Pliny. Am I misreading this?

For the record, I'm happy to drink either beer, any time. But since Pliny gets distributed here (most recently 3 days from bottling) that's the one I'll go to. Still have one left in the fridge, beckoning.

I can get 2 week old Pliny and it's outstanding as is blind Pig. IMO PB is way underrated when IPAs are mentioned< IMO maybe better than Pliny is some respects.

He didn't even say he liked it more... he just said some compared it to Pliny, they may have been booing at Pliny or they may have been Booing at the comparison. I've only had Pliny never had anything from kern but I wouldn't boo either one. Pliny is good... There are other awesome things out there I can't get Pliny easily but I have access to plenty of brews I like as much... OR MORE. :grimacing: Some of those things I even drink A MONTH AFTER THEY WERE BOTTLED?!!?:grimacing::grimacing::grimacing::grimacing:

The point is one good beer shouldn't inspire booing of another.

Only mature, well mannered, respectful patrons visit beer stores... Said no one ever.

Which beer may actually be better is irrelevant to how ridiculous this is.

The article is poorly written. It was not actually "a chorus of boos for Pliny the Elder." The suggestion of Just Outstanding being comparable was booed.

So a poorly written article leads to a misleading BA thread title. And here I thought the Internet was a great source for error-free information!

The only Booing going on here is that this is even a problem out there. Just to walk into a TW in VA and find any offering from either fabulous brewery would only have me Boo-Hooing with joy and a trunk full from both all the way home. Can't believe this is even a thread :grimacing:

I.E. - Hmmmm is it 99.9999999999 pure gold or 99.9999999998. Boo!!!!!
