Saw that OH is doing a nitro version of Irish Walker on Cedar i.e. Cubano Walker. Does anyone know the distro for this? Is it seeing the triangle? Sounds mighty good. OH has been killing it

I've tried the Irish Walker aged on Spanish Cedar before but I seem to recall that it was draft only.

It's awesome that they're releasing the nitro version to bottles...had both regular and nitro on tap at Olde Hickory Station a few months ago and the nitro CRUSHES the regular.

Just bought a 4 pack at Salud and this stuff is amazing if you like BWs! Nice cedar flavor on the tail end and the nitro is a different and welcome touch for a BW. $23 for a 4 pack, but well worth it. Can't wait to see what this one does with some age.

Olde Hickory continues to kill it with their barrel program.

    Yummadumdum!

I'm glad to see this one make it outside of Hickory. I've been enjoying them for a while. Although I honestly can't decide between regular and nitro. But, that may just be my subconscious way of forcing myself to have 2 of them each time. Then of course I'll have to have Irish Walker to compare, and then of course I'll be walking home.

Just stumbled across this (4-month old) label. Any hints on when we might see a release @AppalachianVntnr?

FYI, while the aroma and flavors are nice, my bottle of Cubano Walker is pretty much flat, making it un-enjoyable for me overall. I've had the Irish Walker with the cedar aging treatment twice before: one was a vintage keg that was too oxidized for me to derive any positive attributes and the other was a fresh cask which was better than my flat bottle but still just "meh" to be honest. They just can't seem to get this one right IMO. Sucks because I absolutely adore beers aged on cedar. Glad I only bought a single.

P.S. My bottle is dated "Bottled on 06/01/15" Anyone know why they waited so damn long to release it?

I didn't even think to check my bottle date. I remember seeing the label approval a long time ago because I've been waiting for the release for what seems like forever. I know my first bottle cascaded properly and didn't taste flat.

I'm an idiot. Totally forgot this is a nitro version. Disregard everything I've said.

Very near future. Went into bottles fairly recently. Same batch that placed silver @ World Beer Cup in 2014.

I'm guessing this is going straight to distro instead of a brewery only release?

Wasn't brewery-only, but may have come and gone from distro already. The brewery locations still have it (or at least a day or two ago). So good!

Sorry, I was referring to the Appalachian Walker. I have a 4 pack of the Cubano, pretty tasty, just a bit confused as to why they waited 6 months after it was bottled, as its a bit flat now. But other than that, I really liked it.

Gotcha. I was shown the secret of Cubano on NYE... Its not really flat but its on Nitro so it comes out of suspension very slowly since it doesn't have the ball thing that Guinness cans do. The secret for nitro bottles is to just turn it upside down into a glass and pour it hard and heavy. You get a great head that just sticks around but unlike CO2 it doesn't foam all over the place.
