Driving west and south today. We stopped in Asheville yesterday for lunch at Wicked Weed and were convinced by everyone we know and lots of people that we talked to at WW that we should stay and visit some other breweries as well. Hit up Green Man and Burial Brewing company. Burial is doing awesome stuff, while green man I could have passed on. We have completely lost track of how much beer is in the car but I think there are 5 case boxes of bombers...should make for one hell of a haul post once we get back to Austin. NYE gonna be spent in Jackson, Mississippi, then we will get back to Austin in time to get some Cerveza de Tempranillo at JK. Happy New Years Everyone.
I'll be spending New Years at Alamo Beer Co. and hopefully watching the fireworks of downtown on the Hays St Bridge from where these photos were taken. We'll be playin "Beer, Bacon & Bingo", their free bingo event every Thurs to win prizes while also getting to snack on some candy coated, chocolate dipped bacon by the Social Box (food truck) along with watching bowl games on their 90 inch TVs. They're tapping their new holiday porter....cinnamon, vanilla, horchata porter and their Village Idiot Doppelbock. Not sure how I feel about the porter since I've had Blue Moon's horchata beer and wasn't too pleased, but I think they deserve a shot.
Well my first beer today will be what ever @Coldstorage has in store for me in my 12 DOX box. All I know right now is it is a 750 of something as it's still wrapped.
A buddy of mine that I share/brew beer with recently bought a house about 2 miles from me and is throwing a housewarming/NYE party tonight. Not sure what he is busting out but I'm bringing a 2014 Black Tuesday, a No Rules, a Speedway Stout of some sort, a Beautitude of some sort and probably a BCB something... will be drunk...
Going to a friends house in town for NYE, so there will probably be the typical BMC. May have something at home beforehand, probably a Other Half or Carton beer. Will probably have a Trillium Mettle tomorrow for the Winter Classic.
I would never take the Blue Moon version of a style and generalize that experience to ANY craft brewer's take. Horchata could well be terrible regardless of brewer, I just wouldn't form that opinion based on Blue Moon.
