Other Half Brewery Thread (December 2015)

To be fair, there's still plenty of beer left. Just not the type that one would dedicate hours of their day just to get their hands on...

 

I rarely criticize breweries but I do think the cash only line was a bad idea. Im sure it screwed a ton of people out of beer that they should have fairly gotten otherwise. Other Half has been doing this every other week for like 9 moths im very surprised they dont have an efficient/fair system in place. The lines are no longer a surprise.

 

Got there at 8:30, got my allotment, and was out the door by 10:30.

I can see why people are pissed about the cash only line, but if they made the line come to a standstill and it took all day for everyone to get their cans just as many people would be bitching. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I paid with my card, if that matters.

 

I doubt everyone is pissed about the cash line itself, but why implement an entirely new checkout process without communicating that beforehand?

 

Well shit - left work at noon and thought I'd be ok. Never really been blown away by Forever Everand wasn't intending to get it before, so not gonna get that just as a consolation.

It seems like they dropped the limit to 2 four packs ten minutes before it sold out? They are super bad at estimating. Wish they would just have lower limits to begin with.

 

is the 7.1% abv on the can of foreverer on their Instagram a typo?

 

They should literally just tweet out "Can Release X day. $XX/4 pack" from now on. Just keep us in the dark about everything. Beer roulette.

Suggestion to OH: Implement tickets if the line hits the corner and its an hour before opening.

The cash only line was only there for an hour or so because one of the Square terminals stopped working

Cash line was there at opening... I was in-line at 9, they were notifying people about there being a cash line at 10, which continued until after I left the card line at 11.

Biggest waste of time was the having to yell at everyone about not parking in the McDonalds lot and the bros who just love to yap with the dudes selling the beers (buy your brews and move along bros)

 

First off, how far ahead do you mean when you use the term "beforehand"? At the announcement of the can release? At the moment when the POS goes down so they can tell everyone first?

Secondly, it seems that a lot of people are pissed about the fact that there was a cash line. Hell...the person that posted right above my original post was clearly pissed about the cash line.

 

Sounds like this release was a shit show. Oh well. Might still head out there for a growler, would much rather drink Superillo later than champagne. Happy New Year, all!

 

First, I wasn't there so I'm not pissed. Second, people posted ITT as if the cash line was a new procedure, not done as a stop-gap for the POS going down (which we've now learned to be the case).

And by beforehand, if they announce a release and were to add a cash-only line, I think stating that is perfectly acceptable notice.

 

This release was easily the 2nd worst I've been to (Street Green obviously taking the cake). The group of people in front of me and the group of people behind me were doing bottle/can shares the entire time on line and they were making no effort to be discreet about it. Hell...they even stepped into the street for a good amount of time while they were drinking straight from the cans.

The dude at the door brought tears of joy to my eyes when he told them to throw out their cans and to never do that again. He's the real MVP.

 

So basically you didn't know what you were talking about and Other Half did nothing wrong.

^agreed! A bunch of entitled pricks with 0 respect for the establishment where people earn a living. Never mind the people who live on the block. McDonald's should stop barking and bite and tow some damn cars!

I don't fault them for offering all the variety, and I down own a couple new pieces of glassware because of it, but I wonder how much the line is slowed down by people figuring out which glass, shirt, etc they also want to buy.
