I drank locals when there. Some I remember.....

    Kalik
    Sands
    Presidente

Lots of mixed Rum drinks too. Tortola had the biggest selection.

    All was good.

    Enjoy

Yeah, beer is just a palate cleanser while in the Caribbean.

Lived on St. Maarten for >2 years. If you go to the "bigger" local grocery stores you can often find Belgian/German/European imports to the likes of Chimay, La Trappe, Duvel, and Delirium Tremens, among a smattering of other random imports you'll never, ever find again. It beats the local swill by miles and, again, you may find something goofy that won't cross your path again.

I prefer the stouts when I go to St John but this is the every day "table beer" at my abode.....

Was just down there I drank lots of rum, more rum, and some Carib on the beach. Just enjoy yourself its beer dude, having good beer on hand shouldn't be the difference between enjoying yourself and not.

Yeah, I was just there and didn't drink a beer the whole time. But they had some good rum...

You drink rum whilst on the islands buddy....sometimes lack of great beer can yield some interesting results. Besides, rum is the cheapest thing in the Caribbean.

Depending on where you are in the Caribbean - you can find a good bar with a good bartender and you can get high quality rum drinks made with fresh fruit (not a premade mix) - something you won't find very cheap in the States. Without shame I enjoyed more than a few Dirty Bananas in Negril a few years ago.

Glad to hear a previous poster above reference St. MAARTEN. May be headed there in the spring and wouldn't mind knowing where to pick up some good beer just in case.

When you make the decision to go on a Carribean vacation your are basically sacrificing to the fact that good craft beer will not be found anywhere in any of your ventures and travels. Go in with that mindset and you won't set yourself up for disappointment. And bring a few bottles in suitcase as others have mentioned. Drank a lot of Negro Modelo and Sol at the resort in Mexico 10 years ago and still had quite a great time. Lots of tequila sampling and tasty mixed drinks as well.

Just got home from St John, which allowed me to rediscover the greatness of Sierra Nevada, who I totally take for granted here at home.

For me, a cold Carib really hits the spot when relaxing on the beach on a hot day. Last Caribbean cruise I was on(a Disney cruise no less) had the likes of Jai Alai and Two Hearted on board.
