Good Morning BAs. Glad to wake up in my own house where I may imbibe as I see fit. Breaking into the day with this fan-diddly-tastic beverage. Gonna be another day of great beer and probably shitty Bowl games as has been the case lately. Have a great day. Cheers.

A bunch of lopsided scores. Today's lineup doesn't look very enticing.

Hopefully that's a good thing. It seems like every year, the "Who Gives a Fuck" Bowl always ends up being the best game. The 2009 Humanitarian Bowl (Idaho v. Bowling Green) is still one of the best games I've ever seen. Let's hope. Drink up, Doc. Cheers man.

Good morning, all, and Happy 9th Day of Christmas! Toasting the big wins by OSU and UM yesterday. Go Big Ten! (Or however many there are in it now. 14?)

Good morning BA, hope everyone enjoys their Saturday!

My go-to winter seasonal brown ale. Big robust flavors of chocolate, cocoa, toasted biscuit, and nutty malts; with some light herbal/floral/spicy hops and balanced roasted bittersweet finish. Nice medium bodied creamy mouthfeel with a touch of roast malt and hop stickiness. Always love this stuff. Its on the roasty side of the brown ale spectrum, but it's not overdone to the point that makes it feel like a porter.

Last of the 6 pack. The new recipe is an all around excellent tripel. Big aromas and flavors apricot, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, coriander, pepper, clove, light honey, and biscuit; with herbal/floral/grassy hops and yeast earthiness. Good amount of yeast spice and earthy bitterness; with a very smooth/crisp finish with moderate hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Good dryness as well from both hop and yeast bitter/spiciness. This really impressed me a lot for the style. I look forward to trying the new Abbey dubbel eventually, but we haven't gotten the new batch as far as I have seen with the bottle dating. Will be getting another 6 pack of this really soon. Delicious!

Damn this is tasting insane! This is an extremely deep and complex stout. Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, light licorice/smoke/char, and light-moderate herbal/piney hops. Moderate herbal/pine hop and roast/char bitterness; with a huge full bodied creamy/silky and lightly slick/sticky/chalky mouthfeel from both hops and roasted malts. Pleasant warming alcohol with zero booziness for 11%. I should have bought more of these when I had the chance. Still pretty hoppy right now, but it's only been 4 months since bottling as it is. Pretty unique as far as the malt profile goes too.

Finishing off the Bastard Box, just passed the best by date. Tasting fantastic as always. Flavors of huge grapefruit, orange peel, citrus rind, and pine resin hops; with balanced caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, and light dark fruit maltiness. Aggressive pine/citrus rind bitterness; with a sticky/resinous finish with light-moderate creaminess in the mouthfeel. Minimal astringency from Chinook hops, very smooth sipping, nicely balanced. Always awesome stuff!

This tasted just like Russian River's Damnation, but cost only 1/3rd of the price. Used to be called "Ozzy" but had to change the name after a lawsuit by the former Black Sabbath front-man's reps.

Another day at the lake; fear having to return to full weeks of work come Monday. But I'll pretend that's a world away right now.

Good morning BAs! Happy Saturday! For breakfast this morning I'm returning to 2008 and swilling this:

Yep, this sucker is definitely made with raspberries, and I still don't like them. Aside from that, I think this beer is massively under rated here - it is just exactly what it claims to be.

Really quite good. Not even in the running with stuff like Lagunitas Imperial Pils or Smutty's Frankenlager, hell, not even as hoppy as that new Yuengling IPL - & I think that might be what I like about it. This here brew is everything that it needs to be: smooth, bready, clean, & with just enough of that extra hop-bite. Prost, Shiner!

    Anyway, enough of that.

    Tunes:

My day took an ugly turn early on, I'm hoping to salvage some good juju - this'll definitely help :-)

Hope you're all having a great 2016 so far!

As always- Drink up & drink on, my fellow advocates!
