    I'm going to New Glarus brewing on March 12 for my birthday with a group of friends. Looking for suggestions of other things to do or places to eat in the area.

    Highly recommend the Cow & Quince for breakfast or lunch, if you like good food. It's a farm-to-table restaurant with a level of quality (to me) a little unexpected for a tiny burg like New Glarus.

    Glarner Stube is where I normally hit for lunch when making a trip. Will def have to hit Cow & Quince next time, never knew of it so thanks for the tip @Yohann

    Sugar river pizza. Good pizza, solid beer selection

    Hiking in the park across the highway from NG Hillside is pretty cool. It's a short hike (about 3/4 mile, IIRC) but offers some cool views of the brewery.

    Sugar River St Trail could be hit or miss in March if you like a good hike.

    Do glarner stube. Supposedly also hosts the worlds largest urinal as well... possibly useful after a lengthy visit at the brewery. No joke. I bought it was surprisingly small... was expecting more I guess when I heard "world's largest."

    Minhas brewery is a few clicks south from there.. like 15-20 minute drive or something along those lines.

    The beer is......not fantastic, but it's a brewery with a lot of history and it's kind of a fun tour to take if you've never been. They make pretty dang tasty cane sugar sodas too.

    I'm a big fan of the Glarner Stube and Sugar River Pizza, and of the Maple Leaf Cheese and Chocolate Haus, myself. Also, I think the Chalet Landhaus is a pretty cool little place to stay (and happens to be right next to Sugar River, and across from both a minigolf place, and a grocery store).

    A good old timey place is the New Glarus Hotel Restaurant.

    Beer Mapping could provide some help. Look at the specific map for Madison, it shows spots around the area.

    Glarner Stube, Sugar River Pizza and Tofflers would be my 3 recommendations.
    Puemples is worth a stop as well.

    I don't think Beer Mapping is getting updated any more, which is too bad. I've used that a lot when traveling.

    Could be, but most of the spots are still there... aren't they? :slight_frown:

    Looking around the site (BeerMapping), it appears that places are being reviewed and the forum has activity as late as last week. Dunno.

    @emerge077 ?

    Small Bar Division is still on the map, for example. I've found other places that are gone, but I don't remember specifics. I always verify with another source now.

    A fantastic stop is Brennan's Market in Monroe, 20 minutes south of NG, Go hungry for the free samples of Cheese and Fruit, seems odd however they only offer premium fruit at the peak of freshness, amazing sampling, can be a snack or free lunch!
