Isn't it nice when brewers make ales AND lagers?!

Out of the bottle it's great. Out of a freshly tapped keg it's nothing short of heavenly.

I'm with you on the Schells, I feel like the Wisconsin Amber has gone downhill over the last several years..

Everybody already said the only ones I know about that see distribution, much less distribution anywhere near IL or WI - and they're not wrong.

Should you ever happen to be in Cincinnati for any reason, Taft's Ale House makes a rather nice Vienna they call Pedro Pacas. It's not even a regular staple beer for them, though, much less bottled or canned.

Honestly, the two most widespread, Sam Adams and Leinenkugel Red, are both solid in my opinion. Metropolitan Dynamo is one of my all time favorites. You should be able to get that in Chicago!

My favorite Vienna lager is Heavy Seas Cutlass. I also thought that the Sierra Nevada in this year's fall pack was fantastic.

Sweet, I thought Metropolitan would have one (given the beers they brew), but since I (clearly) no nothing about vienna lagers, didn't want to assume it would be good for the style. And yeah, definitely all over the place in Chicago!
