I recently had to cancel my plans to attend Cigar City's Hunahpu's Day bottle release event. I've been wanting to go for years and am pretty bummed out. I am going to MBCP Day at Funky Buddha this weekend which I am pretty excited about. I would also love to attend Three Floyd's Dark Lord Day one day.

What is your ultimate dream beer release/beer trip that you want to make it to one day?

The one that has great beer and doesn't involve waiting in a line.

At this point it would be to have another tasting in the Doom Saloon (the tasting area at my friend's place, a converted detached garage), as the "proprietor" of the "saloon" is recovering from cancer right now, and it is uncertain how long the recovery will take before he is back to his old self.

Also hope to attend GABF, and the National Homebrew Conference, and the first day Alchemist in Stowe is open.

The BA Microbrew Invitational sounds pretty sweet. Kind of counts as a release since all the breweries will be bringing a new unique beer. Get to try a ton of new releases at once.

And as @cavedave said, the first day at the new Alchemist sounds good to me.

Hit Bissell for Swish release last weekend, great beer and easy set up! Free coffee and donuts while in line too. They have a foodtruck on weekends and Foundation, Austin St., Allagash all in walking distance.

A surprise re-release of Bourbon Barrel Hi-Fi Rye Barleywine at Flossmoor Station. Hi-Fi Rye remains one of my favorite beers of all time but I never got to try the BB version before the beer was discontinued. One can dream, right?

Sounds good! I was in Savannah last October, had a few from Service, Southbound, and Moon River.

    Any event that is:
    • Ticketed
    • Well organized
    • Clearly communicated and sensible limits
    • Staggered / grouped tickets for pickup (so short lines)
    • Well organized (felt the need to double down on that)
These days breweries know they are going to get mobbed, so either get organized, or deal with the shit show...

Man, I went to MBCP Day at Funky Buddha and it was incredibly well organized and efficient. Beer lines moved very quickly and picked up the bottles immediately when they were released. But I agree, most are a complete shit show these days.

MBCP at Funky Buddha was exactly that. You should check it out one day.

Dark Lord Day is a real challenge. Most times the weather is bad - cold and or wet. Last year a buddy went and stood in line for 3 hours and was rewarded with 1 bottle of Dark Lord. Parking is bad. I would only go to this if they moved it to July.

Dream release: my sitting my house, while brewers bring in special bottles of beer. We open and enjoy, discussing the beer, hobbies, sports, or whatever. No lines. No overwhelmingly packed small tasting rooms. Just a few people and some damn good beer.

My "dream" doesn't necessarily fit the original topic but for me it would be Treehouse not having a per person can limit.
How am I supposed to enjoy the shit out of Julius if I can only get 4-6 cans :slight_frown: Especially when I end up giving a couple away to friends so it blows their mind. I have too many friends that think Shipyard Pumpkin is the summit of beer.

My dream event would be me being able to listen to the new Sennheiser Orpheus or some other summi-fi headphones, while waiting to get a couple of bottles of Good Morning. :stuck_out_tongue:

On a serious note, though, I'm not sure if I will ever go to a release beer event.
