Anyone else like to put brewery tackers on your home bar walls? Some of the breweries I've visited, some I just love their beers, and some I just thought were cool. My favorite? Probably the Half Acre one I got this summer. Also love the Westmalle and Orval ones too. What is your favorite sign in your home bar?
Started three years ago this summer at Brooklyn Brewery. While buying tokens my wife saw the tin tacker and said we should get it for the family room. Three years and 100+ breweries later we now have 33 tin tackers and 50+ glasses since many breweries don't do tackers. I'm pretty much out of room unless I re-arrange which is more work than I am willing to do right now. Still need to put up Revolution and Heavy Sea's.
One of two ways, I can't remember if I got them from different places or the same. 1) I know I got the Westmalle sign off ebay.be. I think I may have gotten one of the Orval signs there as well. I used Google Translate to ask sellers via message ahead of time if the would ship to the US. If they said OK, I bid. 2) I'm positive I got at least one of the signs from a BA user. I posted something in one of the forums that I was looking for some Trappist signs and Orval specifically, and a guy in Belgium responded saying that he saw some at a flea market type thing a week or two before. He said they had it every month and that he would look at the next one. Turns out, they had some stuff! I got one (or both) of the Orval signs, the Orval coaster holder (you see it in the third pic), Orval bottle opener, the Rochefort sign, and maybe a few little additional things. I asked what he wanted for it all and it wasn't bad so I bought it all. Makes for a good story! Super nice guy. Best of luck!
For an Orval sign, just Google Orval sign. There are lots of Belgian online stores that sell them and ship to the U.S. They are not expensive.
The white Orval sign is easy to find. That black and orange one is not. I want it and can't find it and it's driving nuts. That and the Zundert sign that I originally held off on when I saw it. To the op, love the collection, especially the Westvleteren crate. Did you buy it new or "vintage" Cheers.
I have a small bar area and don't have much hanging up but here it is. The DFH and TK signs are actually wood.
