It CANnot come as a surprise to anyone who has followed my reviews, but my least-favorite brewery is Minhas and my least-favorite beer is anything of theirs that is currently in my glass! In fact, I plan to center my NBS this coming Sunday around a plethora of their "beers".

Sure, it's easy to bash at B/M/C, but I CAN (usually) get their beers down the pipe & not have to worry about the dreaded gag reflex kicking in, but Minhas' swill moves everything in both directions, sometimes explosively! I CANnot discern whether they are using a shop-worn yeast strain without giving it a chance to rest & regenerate (most likely), like a crack ***** who gets back on the street as quickly as possible to generate $ for her next fix OR if they genuinely do not know what they are doing (unlikely).

Which beers/breweries generally rub you the wrong way? Maybe it is a mild allergy to their house yeast strain (it happens); the beer is generally ungood; the beer is good, but the presentation sux; the presentation is good, but the beer sux; who knows? That is why I am asking.

See yinz on Sunday (if not before) & Manjit Minhas, I'm looking at you!

I would have to agree that Minhas could be the worst widely distributed craft brewer out there. Stay clear and don't be suckered into their low prices and beer store clearance sales either. BMC is much better than Minhas.

I don't really have any breweries I hate, usually I can find at least one or two beers I enjoy from everyone. Never had anything from minhas though so that could change.

I can think of one in particular whose product line I just don't understand the rationale (3-4 was enough tor try now no more) but I am not saying anything...

I have definitely heard about Minhas, of course I've never seen their "stuff"

Even the very poorly beers, or poorly rated breweries have me just as intrigued sometimes as the hyped ones...

Mostly cause my mindset is, can it really be THAT BAD?!

    (disclaimer yeah it can be...)

The one in Washington I just can't get on board with that everyone seems to love is Black Raven. Their three big beers, Old Birdbrain, Grandfather and Great Grandfather Raven, are pretty decent (like 4-4.25), but every one of their other offerings are downright disappointing to terrible. I've tried, really tried, probably bought 15 different bottles, and don't think any of them are good and definitely not worth any accolades.

Maybe not worthy of hatred, but the offerings I get from Shipyard are just terrible, same with SeaDog. They may brew some great beers, just not any of the ones that I've had.

Dishonorable mention: FishTale (or whoever brews them) & RJ Rockers (maybe a couple of special release exceptions)

I would agree with Minhas. I can drink about any beer, but anything they make, makes my stomach instantly hurt. I would drink a case of Keystone Light before I drank one Clear Creek, Boxer, or Mountain Crest. Now I just made myself feel bad because I have tried that many of their beers.:slight_frown:

I don't know if it's fair to say that I dislike any brewery for making bad beer, since nobody is forcing me to drink any of it. Time Warner Cable, for example, forces you to put up with their atrocity of a business model and customer service if you want to access the internet so it's fair to hate their miserable goddamn guts, whereas I don't HAVE to put up with any brewers whose beers I don't like.

That said, Boston Beer and InBev are certainly deserving of demerits for reasons other than the quality of their beer. Everybody knows the story on InBev, but I'm not really sure they qualify as an actual brewery so I'm going to say my least favorite brewer is Boston Beer. When I worked in beer sales, Boston Beer was BY FAR the most aggressive and hostile company in terms of walking into your store like they owned the place and demanding that "you will put a Sam display here" and "you will stock three new flavors of Twisted Tea." I got along perfectly well with the reps from the BMC distributors, but the Boston reps were just the most terrible bullies. If I owned the store I would never, ever stock Boston Beer products again. The irony is, they try to throw their weight around but truthfully Sam beer and all their failed "Just Beer" and "Traveler" side projects sell like garbage relative to the fridge space you have to allocate to them, so it would probably be better business to kick the brand out entirely. Unfortunately, Angry Orchard and Twisted Tea were always moderately good sellers.

I actually have lots of breweries I have a strong dislike for...but they're small and I don't necessarily want to shit on anyone's dream by wishing for them to go away online.
In general, if you're opening a new brewery, get the basics down before you start talking about barrel aging and adjuncts.

AB - not for their size or product, but for their business practices.
Bud Light - I can enjoy myself drinking most 'light' macros or BMC in general, but Bud Light tastes like... if nickels could urinate.

Least Favs are Mikkeller and Fantome for the same reason, very inconsistent and mostly on the bad end.

Short's, their very wide variety of beers have all been equally awful in my experience.

Rogue - because the people who run that place are dicks and turn out over-priced turds like the Voodoo series and Sriracha stout...

Take Woody's warning as the truth and don't bother trying the Minhas beers.

I bought a mixed 12-pack of Berghoff a number of years ago and wasn't fond of any of them. Are they still around, or are their beers any better if they are still around?

EDIT: I just looked them up, and they are still around, but their BA page says that their beers are brewed by another brewery. (Minhas?)

I'm yet to have anything I like from Evil Twin, Off-Color and except for the one beer Mikkeller collabs with Toppling Goliath (Nelson Schmelson), Mikeller either.

Wouldn't say I hate them though... just not my cup of tee with what I've tried so far.

Yikes! I just bought a bottle of Shipyard Monkey Fist IPA as part of my effort to try as many IPAs as I can before the grim reaper comes to claim me. I admit I did not review it before purchasing but many of my purchases are spur of the moment type of thing i.e. a kid in a candy store reaction.

I've stopped thinking about least favorites so I can concentrate on most favorites.
