I am only 1 man, but I went to Total Wine today hoping to grab a few bottles of BBH and was disappointed when I had to settle for BCBS. Don't get me wrong, BCBS is a good brew, but I'll take BBH over it any day. I had a BBH last night and am having a BCBS right now, so I haven't done a true side by side but there is no doubt in my mind BBH is better. I don't think BBH gets the credit it deserves. Just my thoughts, anyone agree? Disagree? Know a better, mildly available BB beer brewed in Tx that blows both of these out of the water?

You live in San Antonio, right? Try HEB Babcock or De Zavala. They should have plenty of BBH. And yes, BBH >>>>>>> BCBS.

I disagree. Especially this year. Best and most balanced BCBS I've had thus far. Don't get me wrong, I love BBH and VBBH and always seek it out when available I just don't see it being better than BCBS. Also, I think they are on different levels, almost comparing granny smith apples to golden delicious apples. Close in style but not really close enough to compare.

Speaking as a Dallasite I think BA Legion is Texas' best because it sits everywhere (in DFW) and every batch is delicious and interesting plus it's a 4-pack that comes around $16-$18 which is less than the BCBS 4-packs (when that was a thing :slight_frown:). A little over one year since release and they've put out five batches each with a different blend of barrels with a sixth coming in the next few months. I also can't recommend Big Bad Baptist more. It's even more available than BA Legion with each batch also being different blends. The latest BBB with Cultivar coffee is one of the best BA coffee beers I've ever had except for maybe 13 BCBCS.

This is sitting on the shelf at my store right now. I really need to grab it as I always complained about it not being in DFW. I've only tried the vanilla and it was awesome. Another good BA beer as mentioned is Community Legion. It probably won't blow your mind, but it's a solid BA beer that's readily available.

Better than BCBS? Probably not for me, no.

To me, Porter vs Stout, Stout wins.

I respectfully disagree, but I think BBH is kind of terrible. VBBH was also kind of bad. I got a lot of astringent bitterness from both of them. *ducks* BA Legion is by far the best BA stout to come out of Texas, for me. It also seems to be pretty easily available in DFW at least. I picked up a 4 pack while up there around xmas from a stack of cases. It's also much cheaper than BBH. Just my take. I have a BBH in the cellar that I hope will eventually mellow enough for me to enjoy it more.

I've had a lot of big BA stouts, some equal to BCBS, but never anything better. Then again, the booziness and sweetness of it are exactly what I'm after. It's definitely a different animal than BBH.

Second/make that third the vote for Legion. Grabbed some of this when heading up to Tulsa right before Christmas, scoped out a Specs that had Legion BB, Inspiration BB and the Oaked Mosaic so i would only make one stop. I don't really think it is fair to compare the 2 as someone mentioned porter vs. stout, granted it is somewhat of an imperial porter.

There is absolutely nothing terrible about BBH  It is fantastic, as is BCBS. One is more subtle, one is more aggressive but no need to compare which one is better IMO.

Not that I'm aware of. I think Community just launched in Austin in the past couple of months and I'm assuming they sent some that way. I don't think Houston sees it either.

NW Food Mart gets Mosaic, so they should get others from Community.

BBH is a great beer, but BCBS is next level IMO.

I am with you on VBBH. While I did like it, the vanilla seemed like an afterthought and artificial to me.

I dont think you can even compare the two. BBH was awful this year, so thin, hardly much barrel character, and every so sweet. I really enjoyed it a year or two ago on draft, but i wont be buying any more
