August of 2000, pints of Guinness throughout Ireland, but particularly (1) with my wife while doing a "Pubs of Old Dublin" walking tour, and (2) at an old pub in Kinsale the day we landed. There's just something about Guinness in Ireland, and we had a number of wonderful conversations with native Irish folks during our 9 days on the island.

    - Genny Cream Ale
    - Yuengling Black and Tan
    - Bitburger
    - Bud
    - Guinness

All of these mentioned in just 21 posts... and the thread isn't necessarily about: inexpensive, macro, underrated, beer for a wedding, or whatever. There's a lesson in there somewhere.

It's funny, the story I almost chose to include was about sitting at an open air, streetside taco joint in Puerto Penasco eating street tacos straight off the grill, with cold Pacificos permanently in hand (literally, the gal could somehow sense right when the bottle was about to be finished and promptly offer us another) -- arguably as good a beer as any I've had:slight_smile:

Took a beercation this Summer and spent nearly 10 whole days cycling, buying and drinking beer around Vermont staying in the Waitsfield area. Eating pork belly tacos till I was sick of them at Mad Taco almost every lunch hour after long rides.

It was pure heaven while I was there, I didn't want to leave.

Before Guinness Foreign Stout was available here, I made a special request to the resort that I was staying in to stock it in my room fridge. When I arrived at Sandals in Jamaica I was told the resort did was not able to purchase it and I was a bit bummed. Got to my room and my fridge was stocked with it. My butler went out and personally bought a couple of cases for me. Every bar on the resort had hidden bottles just for me. Got to say whenever I think of Jamaica I think of sitting on the beach and drinking Guinness Foreign Stout. It was one of the best weeks ever.

Sitting on the balcony, gazing out at downtown Ottawa and the Gatineau hills at sunset on one of the first warm nights of Spring, sipping from a Duvel tulip filled with La Fin Du Monde while listening to Genesis Live on the headphones...it was just a perfect combination of all things good.

Was out on my uncle's boat and brought some canned Sculpin IPAs. It was the first time on the boat that year as we just put it in and the air-show practice trials were going on. We cracked open the Sculpins and it was my first time trying them. Sooo good. Seemed fitting as well since there were probably some Scuplin species right under us.

-- April 1984, a pub somewhere in London. I was on a school sponsored trip (my graduation gift from my parents). I was 18 at the time and remember visiting a 'local' in London with my buddies and drinking an imperial pint (approx. 20 oz, as God intended pints to be!) of Bitter and another of Stout (no idea what brewery they were made by). One of the happiest moments in my life.

-- December 2007. Took my wife on a 20th anniversary surprise getaway to Roanoke Island, North Carolina. One night we went out to a local bar/restaurant. The crowd was small (15-20 people) while two guys with acoustic guitars played and sang anything you wanted to hear (Johnny Cash, Beatles, CS&N, etc). We listened, we sang along, and we drank Newcastle Brown Ale all evening. A great evening!

Well, a couple days ago in a thread in the NW forum, I said that if somebody could whip this up for me, I'd post it as my avatar for a month. I asked the graphics guy at work this morning, and, well, shazam!!

I was drinking a Casper white stout from James Paige Brewing. I saw my neighbor out side and wanted to see if he would like one. This is last winter and there was ice everywhere. I slipped and slammed into the ground and spilled the entire beer into the snow.

I scooped it up and ate the snow while he was drinking his lol.
