I got this when I was about 13. When they are in the Superbowl everyone takes turns on trying to jam it on their head.
    Pretty funny stuff![IMG]

Gose number two! Sierra Nevada Otra Vez. I feel Sierra Nevada brews some great beers and I had really high for this, but it fell short. I'm not saying this is a bad beer at all, I just thought it would be better.

12 oz bottle, dates 11/25/15, poured into a slim pint glass

A- A clear golden straw color with a three finger white head.

S- Tart, citrus, some grapefruit, somewhat salty (almost smells like it has Old Bay in it), slightly earthiness, wheat, hints of cactus.

T- Slightly tart, wheat, lacto, some earthiness, almost no salt, not really getting the grapefruit, but the cactus tastes nice.

    M- Smooth, medium body.

O- Not bad, but was hoping it would be more sour. It is pretty eat drink and the flavors work. Given the price I could see myself buying a light more when the weather gets warmer, but it would not be my go to Gose.

Agreed. If it was a bit more sour I'd probably end up going through 12 packs of this all summer long.

What's up BA? Getting a late start today, but it's now time for a new beer (or two)...

I'm not sure why, but I haven't picked up any Oskar Blues IPA until today. Just too many new things to try, I guess.

Beautiful beer. So clear that when I was looking at the picture, I realized you can see some of the lettering on the back side of the glass.

I had expectations that this would be a solid no frills IPA and that is exactly what I got. I would probably pick this up regularly when I find it fresh.

Yeah- I'd love to try more at the source myself. I'd also love it if they started to date their bottles and delivered a fresh product; there aren't too many well-made English style beers on the shelves, and these would fill that need.

The unfortunate part is that some time in the mid to late 2000s I was getting too many butter bombs, so I started to avoid them. I believe that was more about age and handling, though, and not about the same poor process that Shipyard uses. When they first showed up in the 90s the beer seemed to move and didn't have any off flavors.

That mention of Dinosaur gets me thinking that there might be a good place to find fresh draught. Too bad the only times I've been there have been during working hours and not drinking hours.

Greetings New Beer Sunday denizens. I join you, late, from the Tarheel state. I took my pictures when I poured this giant beer earlier and I am taking my last few swallows as I type this. For this week's NBS I have chosen a delicious Quad from the state formerly known as Vacationland (they use a different slogan now according to Google) and the home of the Portland Sea Dogs (damn, I wish I didn't lose my Sea Dogs hat, I loved that hat). My beer today is a 2014 Allagash Four that I found sitting on the shelf of my bottle shop Saturday. I have been sipping this as I smoke some Korean BBQ chicken legs. A picture might show up on WBAYDN a little later if they come out okay.

Here it is in all of its glory.

After drinking this I left this review:

    look: 4.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.25

This beer pours a nice deep brown with a faint reddish tint. The head is slightly tan and laser etching at the bottom of my Duvel Tulip released bubbles the entire time I drank the beer. Lacing was minimally spotty. The aroma is amazing in this beer. It reminds me of figs, honey, slightly caramelized brown sugar and and a hoppy, peppery spiciness. There is a decent amount of alcohol in the nose as it warms. The taste is more fruity than the nose with hints of pear and apple in the front and the caramel and brown sugar at the end. The finish has a nice hop bitterness but the alcohol shows up here too. It isn't enough to trow off the balance at all and the beer finishes nicely. The mouthfeel is nice with a decent amount of heaviness that is offset by the carbonation to combine for a quite creamy feeling beer. I liked it a lot.

    Cheers all and happy NBS.

Surprise to NBS and me. I thought I had this one before but according to my beer list here on BA I have not so I am counting it as NBS beer #2. This will be brief as the chilly weather and windy conditions have delayed my Korean BBQ chicken legs in the smoker from being done when I expected them to be.

This beer pours mahogany in the glass with an off white head that left quickly and left not trace that it was ever there. The aroma contains sweet caramel, alcohol, roasted malts and the scent of a freshly cracked hazelnut. The taste is sweet and caramel like with a nuttiness that reminds me of roasted sesame seeds. The beer has a medium body and lower carbonation. The finish is bitter hops and warming booze that shock your mouth into watering and creating a lingering sweetness.

This is good, but it's not as good as I'd hoped. It has a weird aftertaste, although the smell is great.

I was very excited about this beer. I love the idea of a peppermint imperial Stout, especially from Ballast Point - the master of flavors, IMO. Poured into an eight ounce tulip. This pours black with a one inch, dark brown head, which dissipates very slowly, leaving decent lacing. The smell is strong peppermint and chocolate. It smells almost exactly like a peppermint pattie. The taste follows the smell with very strong peppermint and chocolate underneath. This seems to alternate with an odd burnt coffee flavor. I'm enjoying this beer, and I would buy it again, but the peppermint and burnt flavor are too strong for a higher rating.

    New Tropical IPA Sunday!

I found this today at one of the Corner Beer Stores in my area. I wasn't looking for really, but I seen another customer grabbing a sixer of this. I figured, why the hell not? It's either going to surprise me or just be left with five unwanted beers in my fridge. Let's get down to business.

This brew pours Gorgeous, in my opinion. Everything I like in an IPA, great deep medium Copper/Amber translucent body. Nice frothy white head crowned her in majesty! Just an outstanding looking IPA, fo sho!

The aroma? First hits the nostrils with that Sierra Nevada signature, you other beer enthusiasts know what I mean. Second hits the face with sweet Clementines and underscore of Cat Spray. Third hits that chord of Hop Resins...which I'm digging!

The flavor? This first hits with that Pale Malt sweetness that soon hits the flavors of Clementines, Passion Fruit and mild Mango. Then slaps your palate with some straight up Hop Resins (or I like to call "Hop Cheese"). This finishes bitter and slightly juicy. The aftertaste is of Passion Fruit and under-ripe Mango with a Marijuana vibe. The feel is medium-light and creamy with nice velvet carbonation.

Overall: I think Sierra Nevada is gong in the right direction with this offering. It's not as dry as most of their other IPA offerings, so maybe they're touching that "Juicy" finish. This has a lot of flavors for its perfect ABV. I can kill a sixer of this and it rivals White Rajah in quality and Hop Explosion. This is balanced and damn enjoyable. This brew is recommended.

    Grade: A

Back again with one more new beer!
Just ate a ton of food and figured this would be a good desert glad I saved it!
So finishing the night with this beer and some witcher 3.
As some of you may know I'm not a big stout drinker but try to pick some up. This one was only 5$ at a bottle shop I dont go to often mislabeled? Idk but I took it as an opportunity to try a beer I may not have bought otherwise.

    Sweetwater- Happy Ending Imperial Stout.
Probably the cheapest waxed beer I've seen lol..

L: jet black bubbly tan head.

S: Odd hoppy a bit roasty some green peppers maybe??

T: Roasted malts some chocolate a bit of those sweet vegetal peppers end with a nice coffee taste

F: A bit light mouth fell could be heavier but suit the flavor profile well.

O: A decent stout I've certainly had worse. Very very drinkable!

16 oz can poured into a slim pint glass

A- A hazy golden straw color with a three finger white head.

S- Sour, some sweet malts/wheat, herbal notes, salt, slightly musty.

T- Sour, lemons, just enough wheat, some herbs, salt works well with the slightly lactic finish, earthy mustiness is still there but much less pronounced than the nose.

    M- Smooth, medium body.

O- A solid Gose with a good amount of complexity, easy drinking.

    Rankings so far:
    Geyser Gose
    Förgås
    Otra Vez

I would say I like the taste of Förgås slightly more than Geyser Gose but not enough to to justify the price difference.
