Any word on the Beets Rhyme Life release? Or did I miss it.

We are still holding off on Beets, Rhymes and Life. Bottle conditioning is tricky business and the quality just isn't there. For now, we are just sitting on it and sampling along the way. It will certainly happen in the next few months.

As for folks lining up super early for this release, we monitor every release and formulate a game plan for moving forward. We want y'all's experience at Fonta Flora Brewery to be beyond awesome and waiting in line, in January, for multiple hours does not sound like crazy fun. We are considering moving forward with pre ordering of bottles. Maybe this should be another thread but I would love to hear people opinions on both styles of releases.

Mid week releases have worked for trillium, SARA and I'm sure others, no lines, not everyone can take a day off for a bottle release.

Pre ordering bottles since the release is this Saturday would probably be your best bet. Good luck with the release this weekend.

Lots of advantages to presales (assuming everything works the way it's supposed to).
It's faster. Paying beforehand, so line moves quicker without having to run everyone's card.
No confusion/stress about whether you'll be able to get a bottle or not.
Much less potential for disaster or problems with crowds getting out of hand.

The disadvantage is that since it's "easier", the people who really want the beer may somehow end up missing out, and it rewards out-of-towners more than locals.

Silent releases and presales are my favorite way to do a release. They just make more sense imo.

If you could somehow combine those two things... for example, if you have 300 bottles, do an online presale for 200 of them, and then for the other 100, do an onsite "flash" presale on a weekday prior to the release. That way locals can find out about it and head over to purchase a ticket in person. Maybe that makes things more complicated, but it might be a good way to appease as many of your customers as possible.

Regardless, if your biggest problem is too many people trying to buy your beer then you know you've made it! Congrats!

I understand the fun of waiting in line SOMETIMES. But honestly, i'd rather pre order/pre pay for a guaranteed beer and smoother release. I am surprised this hasnt been used by more breweries yet. Even Beer Study in Chapel Hill pre-sells their special beers they get in the store.

Agreed with the pre-sale option. You could just see how this one pans out and tweak the February release one

I would rather do a pre-order, but I am willing to wait in line if that is necessary.

In my opinion I greatly prefer presale over waiting in line. This is especially preferable for those people thinking about making the trip from hours away and cant get away days in advanced to camp out as seems to be the norm these days, because you can guarantee yourself the beer before making the trip. Recently I made a couple hour drive to a release and didnt get bottles that I wanted even though I got in line a couple hours ahead of time, which was very frustrating.

    Just my two cents.
Tldr: presales are the way to go.

@HopBeard this could all be solved if you just stopped making good beers. Hahaha. But in all seriousness, it's a good problem to have. I, too, am in favor of presale. Although, then you would have to decide whether you want to allow proxies or not. I think with the size of your current space, it might make sense to look at presales as you start to get more popular. This would cut down on overcrowding. Once you get a massive space and can increase the quantity on your batches, then maybe something along the lines of Foothills/Olde Hickory releases would work.

Either way, keep making awesome beers and supporting NC and we will all continue to support you. Thank you!

Any chance that bottle limits on Sal will be adjusted to accommodate a few more people (3 -> 2)? If I did the math correctly, theres about 170 allocations, and even though I hope/plan to get to FF before doors open, I'd definitely be bummed to miss out. Regardless, I've been hearing great things about the place for a long time and can't wait to get over to the other side of the state to check it out finally.

They should double the allotment on Sal from 3 to 6.

    What could go wrong?
