howdy Just on the off chance, has anyone got any recommendations for apartments in Bamberg that sleep 3 in June, just after something basic at a decent price if anyone has experience of a good one?
What about Fässla?Never stayed there myself, but I think many fellow bAs have. It lies very close to the main station, to Fässla AND Spezial, and is 50euro/night for single room and 70 for double,so quite reasonably priced.. And dont underestimate the luxury of sleeping at a Brauereigasthof....
I almost always stay in AirBnBs if I am going some where for 2 nights or more. I stayed here : https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4472402 when I was in Bamberg in December. Price was nice, plenty comfortable, and just down the street from Torschuster (was there every night). It is up the hill by the Church but really not that much of a hill. If my wife didn't complain about walking it with a stroller then it should be doable for anyone If I was going with my buddies I would look for an AirBnb closer to Mahrs and Keesman though. Have fun, can't wait to get back!
Not sure I'd do Fässla with 3 people. It was pretty "cozy" with just my wife and I. It was a great stay, but a bit small with an extra person. A single night might not be bad, but I wouldn't do it for any length of time. Spezial, too. Not an apartment, but the Best Western is pretty conveniently located just up the street. It's easy walking distance from the train stations, too. I'm always a little surprised how cheap the BW's are over there.
cheers all, I actually tried spezial, they're fully booked, I guess faessla could be worth a shot but it is 3 guys for three nights so im a bit put off by the "cosy" comment the one on airbnb looks decent thanks adkieffer, ill check that one out, always nice to get a recommendation from someone who's stayed at a place
I stayed here last summer with my wife & daughter: http://www.fewo-wachsbleiche.de/ Very nice & modern, well-appointed & spacious, great owners who live on the top 2 floors. If you look at the picture on the front page, you'll see that it's about 100 meters behind Faessla. The owners' amenities include a ceramic pitcher (bembel) that you can fill at the Faessla ausschank window and walk back to the apartment if you like. It's also close to the train station, grocery stores, bakeries, and a good bike rental shop. We'd gladly stay there again on our next visit if it is available. Cheers.
I stayed at the Hotel National in Bamberg once, we rented an "apartment" which was more like a hotel room with a loft but it worked for us. My wife and I slept upstairs with our son and my friend stayed on I think a pull out couch downstairs, but maybe there was a full bed I can't remember. We paid €149, which isn't too bad if you split it. It's close to the train station, and the walk into town isn't too bad.
I stayed at Fässla with a good friend. It was clean and comfortable and really well situated. Three will be tight; however, how much time are you going to spend in the room? They also have parking which was a plus.
thanks for the help so far everyone, some good places for me to check out there, It looks like the hotel andres that spartan1979 mentioned does the "apartment" rooms as well and at a very good price
This is where I stayed on my last visit to Bamberg. Really nice beer garden, €2.20 for 0.5 of Pilsner or Lager. Well placed if you like cycling or running. The train station is about 5 minutes walk and a train ticket (also valid on the buses) is around €12 for two people. If you stay in the front building you might get woken up by the brewery machinery working away.
