    Hey All,
    Get to work from home for awhile. May go see a matinee of 13 hours. We are finishing a couple day reprieve from the intense cold, which will be returning starting later this afternoon.
    I think it is Bock season. Schells brewery thinks it is, so who am I to argue with Ted Marti?

    Thought I saw a break in the rain on radar. Wrong! Dogs and I were soaked on our walk. Oh well, wet clothes in dryer and warm towels on puppies...treating myself - I got this bottle at brewery in May 2015 and I'm surprised at how it has opened up and the multiple flavors beyond coffee that present and enhance - vanilla, chocolate, licorice, bourbon, oak, and roasted malt. I thought this was very good before, and now consider exceptional:

    I think this beer gives KBS a hell of a run for its money and it is more readily available.

    What kind of hop profile does that have more fruit or resin? I want to go to another one of their releases but they have gotten so popular its ridiculous how early you have to get there to get anything. Although I bet the line for their Black IPA won't be as long this Sunday.

    Heirloom Bock from August Schell.

    In addition to barley malt, this one has wheat -and spelt- in the recipe, so it's a bit unique. It's also very smooth!

    Only a couple more reviews to go -- I wonder if the whole pack will last the weekend?

    I will wash that Herd of Bocks down with some high-gravity malt liquor. It acts as anti-freeze in this weather. :grinning:

    This is the best of the worst malt liquors. I highly recommend it for those who love self-imposed torture. It's the same "pleasure" one receives by experiencing something that smells really bad, yet go back for more. Really hot peppers is also a similar experience.
