Not a beer on this planet that I would pay full price for a half-pour as they kicked the keg. Happy to pay half for a half. I can deal with poor service or other issues, but essentially doubling the price on me as they hand me the product is a no-go.

There are times when I feel like that's exactly what it is.

I've never NOT gotten a free pint of my choice when a keg kicks, even if the pint glass was 3/4 full.

Entitled or not, it's expected and always given in my experiences.

don't believe it would be a matter of entitlement...it would be a matter of the establishment or bartender showing good will towards a customer...the half glass would be offered to the customer to finish (free gratis) while asking what other beer they would like to have since they are finished with that keg...they are not going to try and sell the half glass to another patron or auction it off...just saying...

I usually get the beer for free. Paying full price for half a pour? Ridiculous. Now am I entitled to a free beer? No.

I don't think paying full price for a 1/2 pour is acceptable. 1/2 price or offer another 1/2 beer would be acceptable, though.

Out in my neck of the woods it has always been free for the partial beer and in many cases even with liquor pours.

I have seen partial pours because of a kicked keg given at no charge, poured out and sat off to the side while the keg is replaced only to be topped off and served to me after waiting patiently. I have never been charged full or partial and I've been seeing this for 45 years of sitting on the stool side. I'll also tip accordingly

Now getting charged and paying full price for a partial beer? Absolutely no F'ing way. The bar charging full price is stealing from their customers and the patron paying doesn't play with a full 12 pack, IMO

How about first pours full of foam? Full price or discount?

Any Bartender worth a damn would give it away free - It is an unwritten rule.

I say no to entitlement. However, it is a cool move by the bar to let you have that one for free. But, half price is fine also. What's not cool is when they just go to dump it right away without even contemplating whether or not the customer (me) still wants the beer.

Going to the same 2-3 places all the time and knowing the staff pays off very well because I've never had to pay for a beer when the keg kicks.

If you order a beer and they don't have a full pour, I see it this simple way:

    1. The bartender could offer it at a discount.
    2. The bartender could say there isn't enough for a full pour, ask for a different order.
    3. If the bartender was being nice, they could offer it for free.

Entitled - no. Civil - yes.

I've had a growler fill that was only 1/2 of the amount recently that was at a major chain of a newish local brewery I haven't had a chance to try yet. I mentioned it to the guy doing the growler fill when it ended up being short that I really wanted to try it, so he offered it to me at 1/2 price(this is a store, not a bar) and I gladly paid for what I could get.

That's because half the fucking respondents read the headline, saw the poll, and responded without actually reading your post or the dozens that followed it.

This has happened to me a few times and the beer has always been free, but I've also always had another beer after the keg kicker. If I was doing a one and done, I would expect a discount of some sort as long as the beer was still good. Sometimes the last pour from a keg is garbage.

Also, using the word entitled around here is a cardinal sin.

I have been to a few places that when I be ordered something the keg kicked and had about half a pour or a little less than a full and numerous times been told that it was free so what else would I like instead. Never seen or heard of someone being charged full price for a half. That's some bullshit.

I would consider paying full price for a half pour of the last of a vanilla rye keg, the beer at hand. So yes, it does matter what kind of beer it is. If you are foolish enough to believe that the same logic can be applied to all beers, regardless of the quality and scarcity, I can't really take the time to explain the difference to you.

You seem to think because I would do this, I would be willing to pay full price for a half pour of any beer, which is stupid.

I've never had this happen, but I would not expect to be charged the full price for a partial pour. No charge for a partial pour would be appreciated and would earn someone a tip.

Gotta give me a break if I'm getting half a pour.
