    Hey BA,

Need some input to settle a discussion with the wife. We're doing some spring cleaning, and one of the things up for debate is my collection of finished bombers.

A little background: Ever since I started drinking craft beer, I have occasionally saved the bottle from a finished bomber. Not everything made the cut, just very special beers, or things that I really liked (mostly whales). Its gotten to the point now where this sub-collection is getting a little overwhelming - probably about 25 bottles or so, which is a pretty good amount of space that could probably be better used for storing actual beer.

So, my question is this: Do any of you keep/store the bottles for your finished beers? If so, what meets the criteria, and when do you decide to "let go"?

If it's empty I let it go

I used to do this, but I really cut back. It has to truly be a special bottle for me to keep. That, or I will keep bottles that I plan to put homebrew into later.

The only one I really have now is 2010 Rare with box. I got a sample of it at a GOose event and convinced the guy to give me the empty box.

I save a few with cool artwork or rare stuff but honestly I need to just get rid of them...

    I don't keep them.

Now that you ask, I realize that's actually one of the reasons I put some time into reviewing. I have the review to remind me of the beer and don't need the bottle. (Also we have a couple of other collections that are more important to my wife and I.)

:sunglasses:I keep rare bottles. I have a man cave with shelves that line the room near the ceiling and now they are just cool wall art

This was my original intent, but the "man cave" plan never really materialized, as our space is just too small right now.

I have a small collection, but I only keep exceptional beers or sweet artwork. One day I dream of having a bar area to display them.

I have saved these in my man cave because they all remind me of good memories behind them.

My wife doesn't mind much because I also have a lot of nerdy stuff like this:

Look up 'Bottle chandelier'. They're a good-looking way to keep your bottles and save some space!

A lot of good beers in there. Is that the barrel-aged version of Duff?

    NO.
Ditch the bottles and save the labels. That takes a lot less space. Eventually the labels will go as well.

I have an Otis bottle I grabbed at a bottle share, pictures of a hung over bulldog on the label. I have a bulldog named Otis, keeping to make a light out of it. Gut a bottle of Pseudu Sue and I'll keep my Surly Darkness bottles too when they're spent. If there's great art I'll keep them.

I used to save whale bottles and put them along the top of the kitchen cabinets (there was just enough space between the top of the cabinets and the roof).

I recently moved and threw all the bottles away - I have the experience of drinking them and the memories of sharing with friends, so I really didn't need the bottles as a reminder.

An empty bottle of Fou Foune is sitting in the recycling right now - it is cool, but if I tried to keep all the cool bottles I would need to line the house with shelving!

My wife has about 100 items per 1 item of mine in this house. If she ever tells me to get rid of something I can say okay but that means you have to get rid of some stuff too. You can imagine the subject doesn't come up very often.

I keep looking at my growing bottle collection with the thought of getting rid of the whole lot.

Then I think about how cool they might be on display. Someday...
