Working on cleaning my cellar and I found what I think is a 2012 Choklat from Southern Tier Still a really nice stout.
Um sure the beer tastes amazing but the appearance is mud water. I know imthis is the knock that people have on them. Maybe I'd just have to drink this stuff blindfolded ha
Slightly delayed #VBS but I was pumped to receive the #CIF box from @brightcloud313 and did some damage in Friday night Funky gruit style beer - horseradish, ginger, coriander, mollases and a ton more. Pretty good actually! My favorite of 3. Barrel aged IPA with pineapple. Very unique but fruity and sweet and delicious. A classic to cap it off. Tasty! Now to pick something to drink while watching football today...
You really can't knock a beer that looks like that, It has it's advantages because there are some times you really don't want to able to see what is on the other side of your beer glass.
Time for the next round of the CIF (Cushion It Forward)! Invite list: Obviously anyone in the Summer Newbie BIF 2015 is encouraged to participate. I'll open this up to lurkers as well. The only requirement is at least 5 trades and 100% feedback. In the spirit of the Newbie BIF anyone with less than 5 trades or with less than 100% feedback is welcome to join with a veteran sponsor. Veteran lurkers are also welcome. I will ask that you only sign up if you are committed to keeping the #CIF going. The beer: In an effort to keep the #CIF moving along I'm going to limit the beer to a 6-8 bottle shipper with a range of 100 oz. to 152 oz. of 85+ Rated beer, or 4.1+ rAvg if there are too few scores for a rating. Beer must be from outside your target's distribution. How it works: If you want a chance at these red chair cushions all you have to do is send me a BM titled "#CIF I'm in!". Include your name, full shipping address (work or home?), phone number, email address, and your Untappd name (optional). Let me know about any shipping date restrictions and style preferences. I will close down sign ups on Tuesday, January 19. I will choose a BA at random (randomizer) and ship within that following week. Rather than announce the recipient I will ninja the box out. The lucky BA who is surprised by Chad's cushions will add their BA handle and location to the cushions with a permanent marker. At this point the sign ups will start over andanyone who hasn't received the #CIF box is eligible. If we get to a point where no one signs up then I become the target by default. Cheers everyone!
I am so intrigued by these beers. Everyone is talking like they are the Platonic ideal of juicy, citrusy IPAs, but that cloudiness is crazy as hell.
I cracked the Hoof Hearted at family poker night. Some thought it looked like pee some thought it looked like grapefruit juice. My father-in-law hates IPAs but kind of enjoyed this saying it had enough juice notes to make it palatable. I thought it was a combination of grapefruit and a slight white-wine quality.
Haha ouch! I'm actually being a bit of a hypocrite, since I love Trillium and plenty of their beers look similar. I feel like beers like that photograph worse than they look in person too
I really shouldn't get into a thread about bad looking beers but the Backseat Berner from Otter Creek was a terrible beer with all the floaties in the glass. It looked like a snow globe in your glass. Give me cloudy beer any day. I'll try and find the picture of this.
I'd say they're non distro...some stores/restaurants go and pick it up on canning day while the rest of us stand in line...
I think what @sembo is trying to say is to send the good beers to me, send him a 30-rack of Beast for his cold MN winter.
