Hop Junkies?

I love about every style I've tried, but I am definitely a dyed in the wool hop lover. Like every hop lover I wondered if I would love chewing a fresh hop cone. Did this with one of my chinooks I grow. Definitely advise against doing this.

 

Dave, I had some helpers a few months ago when I homebrewed a batch of beer - a Wet Hopped Harvest Ale. My job was to conduct the brew and the helpers picked the hop cones off my hop plant in the backyard. At one point one of the guys asked me for a paper towel and he had a pained look on his face. I handed him a paper towel and he spit something out into the paper towel. I said: What the hell was that? He replied: I thought I would try and eat a hop cone. This was a priceless event!!

Hop Head has been used for years and years, that's the term.

 

Hmm I have tried it with some Golding hops and didn't mind it, actually. Better put to use in beer, though.

although I respect the premise of "to each his/her own", I do get annoyed at people that will not try other beers. I am a hop head, but currently have some Belgium triples, a BCBS, and a case of PBR along with several IPA and APA's in my beer fridge. I will try anything, and have yet to find a sour that I really like or would buy again.

 

Hop poser? Hop hipster?

 

I like the term hop zombies. They are the ones who walk into every bottle shop or bar and say "hopppppppppppps!"

 

I've always called them IPA fanboys. Drinkers that like hops more than beer.
