Will it be barrel-aged while in orbit?

Not a great stout before the barrel. Can't imagine it's that much better after. Unless the radiation of outer space made the yeast crazy

Just picked up a couple bottles in NorCal. They're 19.99, same as the regular version was.

Agreed. Original was a waste. Don't think I'll try the aged version

    Saw today for $19.99 & $21.99
No thanks as well. Might sound stupid, but the box throws off a gimmicky tone once again. I mean do you really expect someone to pay $20+ with so many other great barrel options available?

Ha, now watch the reviews start rolling in within the next couple weeks comparing Ground Control to BCBS. Then all of us who passed will look like fools!

It was aged for only 4 months in Old Forrester barrels so I doubt it will be comparable to BCBS or any other top tier BA stout. I'll probably drink one tomorrow and I'll report back to this thread with my opinion on it.

The cost and retail for us is the exact same as the non barrel aged version. If people are charging more, they're just gouging....big surprise eh? Feedback has been that the barrel gave the beer a little more of a smooth finish. Having had the original two different times, once about 8 months old, second over a year, the hazelnuts seemed to get smoother, but still bitter. I will probably pick one up, because I like the company more than I will find this beer to be worth $20. Then again, for 5 bucks more I can get Pelican's Mother Of All Storms, which is still one of the best bourbon beers I've had.

I, like the rest of the world it seems, was unimpressed with the non-barrel aged version. I tried the barrel aged version on draft this past weekend and thought it was significantly improved. Not really comparable to the top-tier barrel aged stouts in my opinion, but smoother and better balanced than the non-barrel aged version. Picked up a bottle as well for $20 (same price as the non-barrel aged version).

If you treat it right, drink at the right temperature and cellared this beer, it was actually pretty darn good. It's no top 10 imperial stout, but up there overall. As usual, I find the Ninkasi hate takes over too quickly and I'm sure the higher price didn't help.

I'll certainly grab a barrel aged one for $20 if I see it, considering the barrels and the age of the beer that's an ok price.

The Bourbon Barrel Ground Control was part of a Tavour deal for 8 Ninkasi beers for $69.99. I was told you get 1 of each and 2 additional randoms. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me now.

Barrel Aged Ground Control Imperial Stout is a 10% ABV brew aged 4 months in Old Forester Bourbon Barrels with hazelnuts, anise, cacoa nibs - and yeast that went to space! Seriously, Google it.

Total Domination IPA (6.7% ABV, 81 IBUs) is a citrus-forward flagship and longtime companion for Northwest hopheads that launched Ninkasi as definitive hopmasters. 92 on RateBeer

Tricerahops Double IPA (8% ABV, 84 IBUs) is a go-to hopbomb that flows with smooth booziness and is massively dry-hopped with grapefruit-forward hops. 97 on RateBeer

Dawn of the Red IPA (7% ABV, 66 IBUs) douses a light caramel backbone with the tropical fruitiness of El Dorado and Mosaic Hops. 93 on RateBeer

Vanilla Oatis Oatmeal Stout (7% ABV) is infused with whole vanilla beans, balancing rich chocolatey malt depths and creamy mouthfeel with sweet complexity. 95 on RateBeer

Hop Cooler Citrus IPA (7.2% ABV, 74 IBUs) brewed with real orange and tangerine peel and Citra and Amarillo Hops, Hop Cooler is a fruity temple of citrusness. 95 on RateBeer

A couple of years ago I bought several bombers from Made In Oregon. All of the IPAs were malt bombs. I would highly advise against it.
