Exciting news for those of us that love what Founders has been doing lately. FWIW, I really enjoyed all 3 backstage beers this year, so I'm looking forward to what they'll be able to do with the additional capacity.

Nope. They go to PA and I think NJ but not Delaware of Maryland yet. Crazy that you can get it across the pond and I can't.

See, a brewery selling a minority stake isn't always a bad thing!

I seriously doubt for those of us in Michigan that this will have any impact. More likely, just like the last expansion, it just means they will reach new markets which means the limited stuff gets spread over a greater area and newer markets in my opinion will most likely get the most love since they need to promote their product. I guess I should state I don't blame them one bit as that is what keeps the cash machine going.

Does anyone know if they have the capacity in the caves to support an increase in production of their barrel aged offerings?

That not really how I read it. I just read they are moving the specialty and limited to this spot which implies to me that they now can brew more of the regular staples at the current location. Not really reading much more into it at this point and definitely nothing here implies the caves just grew larger so I wouldn't be counting on CBS being a shelf turd anytime soon.

First off, I second this to infinity!

Second, does any one know how much (I should say how little) of why they don't produce much CBS is do to the lack of Maple Bourbon Barrels? I imagine these specific barrels dont fall off trees and take a fair amount of time to develop. Is it the lack of barrels that is the issue? Or is Founders just playing 'hard to get' to create a hype machine. Some claim this... I have to imagine if they could make prime dollar, they would. Maybe a combo of both? Lack of barrels and the shroud of elusiveness?

Perhaps I worded that poorly but I'm not so sure the link implies that and the article doesn't go on to say as much either. Considering All Day has grown in to such a huge part of the business what's to say that the expansion isn't just meant to free up time on the brew house for more of that?

Oh don't worry. This news won't be a blimp on the radar in Washington State or Oregon. Remember, there's way too much stuff already up here and Founders would be nothing more than a "shelf turd". (Ugh with sarcasm!)

I was just being snarky/an asshole, so let me back off that a touch. But I have to imagine the things that made them as popular as they are would be the lines they push to develop further. But it's just speculation, and as others have said it probably will result in a larger footprint and not necessarily more in their current markets.
