So, I'm closing in on 5000 unique beers in my personal list. (I'm well short on this site because of closed breweries, etc.) I'm not going to ask what I should drink, but what I should do?

Vote in the poll question or chime in on the thread.

    Cheers!

Have a tasting with a couple of close friends that appreciate good beers and crack open a few really nice ones.

Well, honestly, if I didn't have a group of close friends to crack open a few really good ones with, I'd probably run up a tab at a bar with a huge tap list. At the moment, I don't really have anyone who would open rare bottles with me.

I'd keep the tasting group small and sweet. Large parties are cool, but I've had oodles and oodles of more fun at a 6 person beer of the month night than downtown.

Crack open a macro you've never tried to remind yourself: its just beer.

Of course, follow it up with a whale.

So Natural Ice followed by Julius. One problem: I have no Julius. Some one please mail me some.

First of all, you've never had Natty Ice?

Second, can you imagine how amazing that Julius would taste? Someone please mail me some as well.

I've only had Natty Light. Maybe I could grab a Natty Daddy, too. Then a Julius would be SO good. However, I still need someone to mail me one or a dozen. Today is my 15th Anniversary and none of you turds have sent me a gift yet. So much for the BA "community".

That's a big number - I think mine's too high for someone as "young" as me, and you're nearly triple. That's a LOT of beers.

I like the macro idea, followed by a whale for 5,001. Both ends of the beer nerd spectrum. And congrats - that's a lot of drinking well.

Congrats on the big number. My party will have to be in the nursing home. I project I will be close to 80 when I get there.

Man, I joined BA two months ahead of you (OP) and only have 1,322 beers. I'm such a slacker.

I should have done something like that when I hit 2,500 on Untappd. Bust out those rares.

Based on my past rate, it appears I will reach 5000 beers in another 27.8 years - that is, approximately September of 2043. At that point I will be in my mid-70s, so we could have a helluva happy hour in that nursing home, @bluehende!

Question is... what's gonna be the 5000th beer? Hopefully Julius and NOT the Natty Ice! can't give the shitty beer credit for being number 5000, that just wouldn't be right.

PS: Kirkland light or Beer 30 Ice can be easily substituted for the worst beer if you can't find any of the Natty variants

I'm curious about your listing requirements. Do you have an oz. cutoff so any tastes don't count? Or do tastes count?
I ask because I'm only up to about 850 and I only list pours over 8 oz. on the list. I don't count tastes or shared 12 oz. bottles so I just wanted another's method for comparison. Good luck getting some Julius. I got some recently by waiting 45 minutes and got 8 cans of Julius and 8 cans of Curiosity 23 [also excellent]. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat - but not alone. I would take my wife, who didn't drink so I could double my take as long as she didn't remind me about it for weeks.

I've always allowed pretty much anything. My favorite beer store has 16 tap handles and does 5oz pours. Which I think is more than adequate.
