I don't think in my 4 years on this site I've seen a bigger trainwreck of a thread. I genuinely don't understand why people see the need to contribute to this thread if they've clearly never had any beers from the OP's listed breweries.

While there are about 5-6 beers listed on this thread that get, or nearly get, the look right, only 2 of them seem to fit the bill of looking like a NE IPA, being described in a similar fashion, AND (very important) being nearly as highly reviewed as most of Grimm, Trillium, Tree House, Other Half, etc. NE IPA's... and those are Block 15 Intergalactic Hop Shop and Cellarmaker Wicked Juicy. However, these both appear to be as limited as any of the NE IPA's anyway, so SOL either way for most of us.

People need to check out RAJA. It is the definition of juiciness. Fortunately I get to drink a lot of OH,TH Trillium Bissell Bros etc. which are the epitome of that genre, but for an easy to get year round distributed beer RAJA just kills it. I am not saying its better than TH OH etc etc, Im just saying its a damn great juicy, hazy orange, soft bodied, easy drinking DIPA that blew me away as I am not a big Avery fan in general.

    Cheers…...

What is the backdrop to this and your other majestic pics?

CM is more versatile than hill farmstead? I'm not really into hf but I'd consider them pretty diverse and CM's website says they focus mainly on hop forward beers?

Sip of sunshine is the outlier, other Lawson's beers are mindnumbingly transcendent.

I'm sure there's a west coast ipa that can keep up with a good ne ipa, i just haven't seen it yet

Dude, just had this for the first time tonight and I have to agree. Very impressed. And I wasn't that excited for it as I found Maharaja to be a malt bomb.

My guess is that you haven't been to Cellarmaker. They are the absolute definition of diverse. Below are some amazing ales I've had from them:

Hop Slangin IPA - Single IPA with Rye malt
    Island Culture - Tart Saison
Imperial Coffee and Cigarettes - Imperial Porter
Vastness of Space - Imperial Stout
    Tim's Brown - Brown Ale
    Bill Beelichich - Pale Ale

They also have a Berlinerweisse they've made. Every time I come in they have at least 4 different beer styles to choose from.

Also - this east coast IPA elitist shit is garbage. 99.9% of beer drinkers on the west coast don't give two shits about NE IPA's because we have three times as many world class breweries to choose from. Not everyone dig's "Juicy" IPA's. There are a lot of people who would take a West Coast IPA that is piney, bitter, and dry (me for one) over a "Juice Bomb".

"East coast IPA elitist shit is garbage" -- this thread has been a bit of a long strange trip -- and I'm kinda surprised it took this long for relations between the coasts to start breaking down.....

Seems like more than .1% of beer drinkers from cali are trading for the "juice bombs" the east coast elitists are pumping out. You're from cali and you're a trader, what do you trade for?

Lol, ya we get it he wants a NoCal beer like the big Vt brews. Individual palates vary so of course your going to get a lot of varied answers depending on where you live and what's available. Love guys in these kinda thread who are always right with their well tuned palates. They're right and sorry everyone else your wrong.

Cellarmaker is certainly on that level. If you've consistently had their beers you would understand that. However, the whole idea of "better" needs to thrown out. Amazing beer is amazing beer. We're all just fortunate to have access to high quality beer all over the map. When I started drinking beer 10 years ago it wasn't like this.

BTW, Quadruple Dobis from Cellarmaker is every bit as good as Pliny the Younger and I actually prefer it, but I'm sure nobody on here has even heard of it and their was no rediculous line to get it.

Saying CM isn't as good as TH is like saying the Steelers are still going to win the Super Bowl. But seriously have you had their beer in SF? Because I've had Trillium and TH in Growlers in Mass the day they were filled and I've had Trillium after it was shipped across the country to me and the difference in quality is astonishing. I.e. after being shipped the beer is about half as good. Take a trip to the bay and have a beer like purity supreme on tap and send me a message when you've changed your opinion.

Astonishing? I've been shipping Trill beers since they started selling FPPA -- to say they lose quality while on the road is absurd. What do you owe it to -- constant acceleration and deceleration? And go Pats.
