I split a bottle yesterday. While sweet, I thought it was delicious. That being said, I'll still probably wait til next year on my other four bottles.

I thought it was excellent on tap. Haven't had it from the bottle yet this year, though.

i only have one bottle, but looking forward to it fresh due to the cool adjuncts. that said, XXIII a month ago or so was so good that i won't be surprised if drinking this one soon is folly.

I though this years was pretty damn tasty fresh (more so than XXIII which needed a little time IMO).

The "best after" date that Deschutes does is among the stupidest things in beer. If that's when it's best after hold the bottles back and release them then.

Did it get distributed to your area?

no, got it in a "just send whatever" trade with kevsal, much like the one you're putting together for me:slight_smile:.

    edit:

have been saying this for years; since before i tried a deschutes beer actually. after having a couple though, i don't really care if their labels feature inflammatory language directed at me and my family, as long as the beer remains as good.

I thought it was outstanding fresh on tap. Which I generally find to the be same as bottle with Deschutes beers. It's not Flat Abbey for Science sakes.

 Just checking. I've seen people mention that Deschutes beers have shown up in some East coast states (though I know it's mostly their year-around stuff) and wanted to make sure!

Haven't forgotten about your box, either! Some great brews coming your way soon!

I thought it was much better colder than at room temp. As it warmed up it became super sweet, too much so in my opinion.

I had both XXIV and XX last night... and while the XXIV was good, you can tell that it will just be much better with age... the XX blew it out of the water. I have a case of XXIV, great for cellaring.

I completely disagree if the brewery stored it till that date the price would just go up. I'd rather get it for the release price and cellar it myself till its ready to drink. Just my opinion.

Tried it fresh from the bottle and the tap this past weekend. From the tap seemed a little smoother than the bottled, but both were very good. Put 3 bottles in the cellar, looking forward to comparing in a year or so.

I love porters but I've also heard it's sweet. I hate sweet beers, so I'm staying away.

It wasn't that it was really "bad" it was that 23 was just way better and I only tried it after the date, so I am defiantly throwing 8 of them in the cellar
