The general details are that the owner of twist is related to Vinnie (sister? niece? Sorry, can't recall at the moment). As a result, this small, boutique store often has elder on tap (if memory serves, they typically have 3 or 4 tap handles going), and in the past, they sometimes have gotten a keg of younger as well. No promises or guarantees, but like oregonskibum said, if you happen to be in the area around the time of the annual younger release in PDX, then it might be worth your while to drop on by (assuming you're a fan of PtY). Pacific City is pretty small, so if you plan to drop on by Pelican, it's not as if you'll have to go out of your way to stop by twist.

Twist always seems to have PtE and Blind Pig on tap alongside two local Oregon beers. Last year had PtY on tap the same weekend as the de Garde party.

A new de Garde beer hit Seattle-area distribution. Grand Blanc (Wild Rye aged with Riesling grapes). Was a little shocked at the $15.99 price tag (edit: It's $13 at the brewery, so that really isn't bad), but still grabbed one.

You could always just grab the Cascade bottle sitting next to it for $25 or 30.

Naw man. They're shipping all that Cascade over to the UK and South Korea now.

Had the Grand Blanc last night, really really good, obviously not surprising.

Congrats to De Garde for making the #5 spot on ratebeer's top 100 list. I created a thread the other day highlighting the NW brewers that made the list, but apparently BA does not allow material from their competiton! It was removed for off topic, come on! It is an honor for breweries to be on this list (while subjective as it is) and I don't understand why it was removed. It certainly is on topic, not click bait. I'm baffled at this warning as it follows all the terms/code of conduct.

    Anyways, cheers to De Garde!

In other news, Jester King posted a picture at De Garde yesterday, looks like a collaboration is in the works, 2 of the most innovative breweries!

They typically delete or remove any and all references to other beer reviewing sites and apps, whether it's newsworthy or not.

After reading the OP and a couple more I'm afraid to loose a few hours reading this whole thread so apologizes if this has been covered. I plan on going to Portland/Tillamook and will not have a car. I guess an Uber from Portland to Tillamook is around $300-400 RT. Google is telling me there is no public transit route. So my only other option is a rental car?

Technically there's a bus option, but it looks like a pain in the ass. If you're into that kind of thing, go here: http://www.tillamookbus.com/schedules.htm

Otherwise, unless you're able to find a generous local to give you a ride (which isn't out of the realm of possibility), yes, you'll need to rent a car.

First thought: It's a funny (and informative) thread, even by PNW standards, so you should read it.

Second thought: If finding a local to give you a ride doesn't work, check out the Enterprise rental outpost on 28th and Sandy. The rates are generally much cheaper than the airport rental car spots, and it's accessible by transit. I've had good luck getting last minute rentals for $15/day, and worst case scenario it's almost never higher than $30/day for a compact car.

I'm pretty much always down for a de Garde trip; PM your details and we can possibly work something out?

There seems to be no Uber (at least not now) in Tillamook. No hotels in walking distance either. Is there some other sort of public transportation? Taxi's, bus, etc...
A rental car will get me there, but probably not get me out :stuck_out_tongue:

There is a taxi service in Tillamook. My wife and I have used it several times when we've stayed in Tillamook for various De Garde parties.

    It's called Kenny G Taxi.

    No, I'm not kidding.

    I did hahaha!
Apparently Tillamook cheese is like visiting budweiser. There's more cows than people. There's no Uber. There's no local bus, just one that runs from Portland to Tillamook twice a day. There's another cheese spot call Blue Heron. There's another brewery called Pelican that I might as well check out since dG closes at 7pm on Fridays. Get pizza at Fat Dog. Tell locals you know what a clam gun is and quit trying to think you're gonna go to the anniversary party on both days. Even the hotel guy laughed at me when I asked about Uber. "This is a small taywn mannn"
