In regards to the feedback the system the way its currently set up you either have a 100% rating or you're black listed. Thats the true problem is that you know if you leave negative feedback the other person is screwed from ever trading. I'm on board with anything that gets rid of the true binary nature of the current system

I would trade with someone that doesn't have 100%, but would make them ship first. I think if you leave a decent description of what happened (in the limited space, I know) it doesn't have to turn people off from ever trading with the person.

Less than 100 is not blacklisted, but as some have said. I would be less likely to deal with more expensive bottles, and shipping, or require you, as the person with less experience or feedback to ship first.

Someone who left less than stellar feedback because of late shipping, or issues sealing a deal, or some other problems wouldn't be as of a big deal, as someone who had feedback of "not sending agreed beers".

Any one remember when this was all just simple and fun and people were not trying to 'win'. Trading is exhausting these days. Feedback works fine as is. Let chill on 'updates' restrictions, limits etc etc. A bad trade occurs form time to time but lets try to make it easier rather than harder. This is a hobby not a job.

I think the mods are trying to make it easier on themselves since it is a job for them. I believe they deal with an unbelievable amount of bullshit and issues on the back end.

We'll continue to apply updates as we see fit. We have the bigger picture to consider, not just your convenience.

And BeerAdvocate hasn't been a hobby for the good part of two decades now. It's a business that hosts this service, publishes a monthly magazine and hosts score of events. It also employs 10 full-time staff members and pays dozens of freelance contributors every year. Then there's the kickass volunteers who help out with moderation, site editing and the fests. While they might not get paid in the traditional sense, I wouldn't consider giving up their free time to do what they do a hobby.
You can't even begin to fathom the amount of whining, trolling, hate and disgusting entitlement that we have to deal with on a daily basis. Even for the smallest moderation items. But recent updates have given me hope as we're seeing a decrease in bad behavior and subsequent moderation.

But anyway. Back to the feedback system ...
