#VBS with @JNForsyth. Opener for proof that we shared the Rum Barrel Aged Stoneface RIS (Challenge Beers 1 and 2). Root beer also made it safely
We had about 2 ft of snow when I went out a few hours ago. Still snowing. Supposed to stop about midnight. Had a FBS earlier and had this with dinner. #VBS and #properglassware
wanted to send a quick thank you to @pnelting for some of the extras from our trade. I told you I would do the coffee porters side by side and wanted to report back. I added in a beer I got in a trade from @richkrull - the tyranena brewers gone wild series is really solid and ridiculously affordable. So 2 friends of mine and myself have shares pretty much weekly on wednesdays to break up the week and open good beers and usually play a board game. I try to bring a theme for some of the beers. so I brought these 3 and one of the 2 BCBCS from this year I got this year to check if it was infected. So for the reviews. Toss up for the top between the devil made me do it and community ascension. the tyranena is an oatmeal porter so it is a little different but the body and mouthfeel was superb. the coffee flavor was not overpowering- maybe a little too subdued, but I am sure some people would prefer this level. the flavor and body was really good on ascension. gave both 4s on untappd. the real ale was a step below in most aspects. over carbed- which kills the style. somewhat thin too- especially after the first 2. thanks so much patrick. (do you go by pat?) here is the final picture for the day- and we played scattergories as well. the one in the center is their home sour program. they brew at a local brewery and make great stuff their but they also try new stuff for fun. this one is their 'house' golden sour that they conditioned over some fruits. Cheers!
Was the one three from the left also part of a sour program? Looks like a great lineup. How was that other half sour?
the pomelo golden sour was their sour. and the other half brett beer was a bit of a letdown. not very complex or funky. Interesting nose, but flavor fell short. their regular IPA is an excellent clean IPA (the center black can with blue artwork) and their collab with tired hands was really good too. Their hoppy stuff is consistently good.
Finally caught up on snow removal here, we got just short of 30" I believe. As the snow started coming down Friday evening I got to hang out with @Doogflaggat and share some beers, here's the damage: Thanks to @smanson56 for the Stoneface, Framinghammer, and Nectarine Sour! Cheers!
To the other PA guys, Is anyone going to Stone Soup this Saturday? Wondering if there will be any Handshake ticks along with bottle ticks.
Super excited, came home today and my wife hunted down a Treehouse and a Trillium glass as part of my birthday gifts today! #properglassware
