Picked up a 12-pack HU from last week's first canning run. I can see drinking lots of these, especially the session cans in the summer.

The bottom of each can is clearly dated BUT I'm bummed I couldn't find any dates on the outside of the box. This could be a deal breaker for me in the future, especially with a beer like HU. Am I missing something?

For instance, both Ipswich Route 101 and FinestKind 12-packs are clearly marked on outside of packaging. I'm always checking dates cause I've been so burned in the past.

Hell, the liquor store right beside me has 6-packs of Hoponious from November.

I'm sure JA will chime in, but they've never shied away from clearly dating their beers, so I'm bet this is just a temporary omission.

@JacksAbbyBrewing is this something (package dates on the box) you guys will be doing in the future? Thanks.

When in doubt I open up the packaging and check. Hopefully this will be a moot point shortly

No date on the outside of the packaging was an oversight. It will be addressed, can't say when it will be yet though.

Any chance the house lager will be in cans for in-brewery sale for this coming weekend?

More than an oversight, a huge one. @JacksAbbyBrewing, you make fantastic beers...that sit on shelves and collect dust for months and then become not so fantastic. You've had a pretty poor track record with your date labeling, and I thought the new redesign/cans would eliminate that. But how am I supposed to know if I want to buy something if i can't tell the date until I open up the box? Stores generally frown upon that. Just seems like a pretty muted apology/lack of concern over freshness.

Until JA fixes it, ask the store's beer manager when it came in. If you can't trust them to tell/know that much then it's probably not a store worth shopping at.

I think you're very severely overstating the issue at this point. There are dozens of other brewers who don't date their beers. If anything, JA should be thanked for taking the time to respond and taking customers' concerns seriously. Your post is insulting to a brewery that has been incredibly responsive, receptive to feedback, and is probably better run from a business perspective than any other brewery in the state.

Picked up a twelve pack yesterday and it's great. If I can get a steady stream of "FRESH" canned Hoponius Union that will be terrific. The price point is also great at 16.99.

Will definitely be picking one of these up soon. Jack's Abby was one of the very (if not the only) brewery I can think of whose prices have always been great and just gotten better. Hell, they even sold 500ml bottles of Hoponius for $2.75/per when that was the only format; then that ~$10 four-pack (~50 ounces) became a $10 six-pack (72 ounces) and now we have a $16 twelve-pack. Keep up the good work.

Simmer down there pal. JA has been pretty good with dating--it's hard to fault them for the few months the dater was literally broken.
The price is nice, but HU has been available for $8-9/6pk for a while now. Heck, it's $7.99/6pk just 3 miles down the road at Total Wine. JA clearly needs to drop the MSRP if stores can afford to discount it over 25%.

$16.99! Go to Julio's just got my 12 pack for $13.99. I can already see myself buying these on the regular. Finest Kind was my go to until the constant stream of fresh 12's ended around the Fall.

Yeah, why would someone care about something like beer freshness when spending money? So silly!

I said they're an awesome brewery, just felt like their response was "whoops, whatever". If you're cool with buying 3 month old Mass Rising then by all means I guess this sounds entitled.

I love puppies. And fresh beer.

What sounds entitled is your expectation that your are owed some sort of profuse apology and an explicit ETA.
