No nothing special. I only use Weyermann malts and the protein content and kolbach index is very consistently good. I've never had a problem with protein haze using their Extra Pale Premium Pils Malt. That is the only malt we use in this beer.

    mmmm pils...

while there is a trend to sort of India Pale-assize em, and get them a bit aggressive (some of these are fun too).. I still love a real good one..

mmm like fresh bread so tasty... and slayable..

    Victory Prima Pils
    Sixpoint Crisp
    Two Roads Ol Factory

Any of these pilsners would get me through all summer with no need for anything else.

If you dont like Pils that's fine, but to not give them a shot is crazy.

Excellent list I would add Brooklyn Pilsner.

I think BBA Imperial Stout has fouled up the works for some time. Like big zins and cabs back in the heady money laden mid-nineties, these big beers floor you with flavor, but I would rather have a nice Bordeaux or pale ale for my pleasure. I do not need to be slammed in the face with alcohol. But, each to their own! I love a nice pils.

*Channels Idiocrasy* Citra hops! It's what beer craves!

Seriously now.... There's a trend to "India Pale-assize" everything these days, but if there's one style of beer I don't want that treatment for it's pilsners. And people say session IPAs are like hop tea....

Thus far, I'd say Prima Pilsner from Victory is the best Ive had. You can practically taste the effort

I like being able to get pilsners whenever I please so don't push this issue, please. Keep up the mantra...turbid IPAs are where it's at, turbid IPAs are where it's at.

Don't go near Gooses Pilsner then. It's damn hoppy. Equinox hops aren't for a Pilsner. At least not the kind of Pilsner I've become accustom to

Maybe the next American brewing "innovation" will be the turbid pilsner... call it the New England Pils... :stuck_out_tongue:

Prima Pils and Pilsner Urquell are my favorites thus far, but it is a style I need to delve deeper into.

These glasses were ordered on Egranstand. That said, around me we have a store called Pottery Barn which stocks a lot of great glassware at similar costs to what we pay for in bulk. I like them a lot, but I actually prefer a footed cylindrical Pils glass for appearance.

Turbid Pilsners and uncooked pizza. Innovation, indeed.

So a Kellerbier? While not technically a pils by any means, they're pretty darn close and deserve to be compared. They're quite an underrated beer style, in my opinion- they smooth the pils crispness by the suspended yeast in the beer but the breadiness and subtle hoppiness remains.

Love a Great Pils, IMO they can be works of art. I'm still a hop head, but a seriously great Pils is really a great drinking experience. You want a buzz faster have a shot of vodka.

I think he was going all the way with the analogy- so more like a kellerbier with 8 lbs of dry hops per barrel.

Why stop at 8? Better make that an Imperial Double Dry Hopped Kellerbier or else its average rating will be below 4.0.
