If it's ratings you're going for then make it an Imperial Double Dry Hopped Coffee Kellerbier. I'm sure it wouldn't be the first, either- we do seem to be living in the days of post-satire.

I always think of it like this: The parody becomes the text.

I adore a good, cold, hoppy pilsner.

Lagers should get more attention, I should make it one of my 2016 Beer Resolutions to seek out and drink more of these tasty brews

Agreed on all counts. A good pils, helles, kolsch, etc just hits the spot different than any other beer. They can be the best and most difficult beers to brew in the world as well. May just have to get a sixer of one this weekend. Cheers and good thread OP.

Will be bottling the small batch of Vienna Lager this weekend and might try a Pilsner on the repitch. I've been brewing dark beers for so long it's time I step back into the light for a while.

Pilsners are one of my favorite styles. They might not be as complex or flavorful or IPAs, sours, or stouts, but man, sheer drinkability. Crisp and clean. A bunch of my favorite pilsners have already been listed, but Sixpoint's The Crisp and Firestone Walker Pivo Hoppy Pils deserve a huge shoutout.

Truthfully, I don't think they're very underrated. They might not have the attention that IPAs get, but what does? It seems like threads like this one pop up once a month... which is pretty darn good... and that's more than you can say about other styles. Pilsner growth in the "craft segment" has supposedly soared. And of course, lagers are the best selling beers worldwide.

Lagers are responsible for some of the greatest drinking experiences I've ever had. I'm here today due to Schlenkerla.

Reissdorf is one of my favorite things ever.

Traunstein's Festbier was one of the best beer moments I had in 2015. I wish I could have some again right now to see if I still feel the same way.

    Some pilsners I enjoy are:

    Southampton Keller Pils
    Against the Grain Poffo Pils
    Jever
    Troegs Sunshine

I really need to revisit Left Hand's Polestar.

The second to last pils that I had was Cambridge Remain in Light. This was my first time trying this beer. The brewer calls it a pils. BA calls it an American pale lager. It uses rice, so maybe it's an AAL... but that'll get some people upset. No matter what it's labeled, I really enjoyed it. The last pils that I had was Sam Adams Noble Pils. Sorry folks, but I never liked this beer and this last time didn't change anything for me.

I have an odd take on pilsners in that it's one of the very few beer styles where I actually enjoy American versions as much or more so than German and Czech versions (as had over here). That's very exceptional for me. I can't say that about any other type of lager.

I pretty much agree with this whole post. Pilsners are definitely the one lager style we get right over here, and it's really a nice sign to see the sales starting to increase as well.

btw- I think you will feel the same way about that Traunsteiner. I didn't get to score that one, but everything they make is fantastic. We're lucky to have them available to us in NYC.

I have this year, I started on a visit to my mom and dads in Pa., there isn't a better place to start than SE Pa. Anyone who thinks craft Pils are along the lines of AALs aren't paying attention.

For me, you can't beat a Victory Braumeister series pills. All of those beers rock hard.

I had an excellent moment with Traunstein Brauhaus Schmitz Oktoberfest beer in 2015. I posted about it in a New Beer Sunday thread:

"The Traunstein Brauhaus Schmitz Oktoberfest beer is only available at Brauhaus Schmitz and it is specially brewed for them by Hofbräuhaus Traunstein, a brewery in Traunstein, southeastern Bavaria, Germany.

I have had a number of Traunstein beers and they have all been excellent so I had high hopes for this Oktoberfest beer. As you can see in the photograph it is a Pale Oktoberfest beer in the Wiesn style.

I will not conduct a full review but I will state that this beer is EXCELLENT."

It is the pale colored beer in this photograph:

With easy access to New Glarus and Schell's, I'm spoiled with easy access to awesome lagers.

Got this place saved for my next trip back home. Wish it wasn't buried in the middle of Philly.

I felt the same way. During spring and summer I tend to drink more Pils. Had to get away from IPAs for a bit. There are some really good Pils out there
One of my favorites is Elm City from New England Brewery

Dale, I do not make it down to Brauhaus Schmitz as often as I wish due to the same consideration.

    Cheers!
