So much agree. Anyone that comes on BA and tries to trade a beer for more than they paid, just to win a trade out make a profit, does not know what Beer Advocacy is. Maybe hold out for a like rarity beer, but I have no patience for someone trying to get more than the original price. Just my opinion of course...

In the past, I was fortunate enough to meet a local party store owner who carries a lot of craft beer. I brought him some of my home brewed heavies, and he would send me home with some he wanted reviewed. I can't recall all of them, but a few were rather pricey.

I honestly like to see people drinking whales and other beers that I'm unable to aquire. I just like to hear other people's opinions on them and determine whether or not it is worth my time trying to get them. If they have the money, more power to them. If I had the money, I would be traveling the world getting whalez bro. That is if my wife would let me lol.

Drink whalez? Gee those guys are dong it wrong aren't whalez for taking pics of and keeping on a shelf downstairs?

I can think of a few people who drink an incredible amount of fantastic beer, and while I know where the money for it comes from I wonder where the liver capacity comes from. Not sure I could drink that much fine beer, or any kind of beer, and stay healthy.

And I am sure half of these people posting bottles all the time aren't even doing that.. it's a horde collecting mentallity (or sickness).. just to grab as many bottles of whatever and stick it in their closet half the time...

As I like to say I don't have a cellar... I have a graveyard.

    Drink the dang beer..

As for drinking 6-10 per day, that is amazing if true. Clearly not healthy on a longterm basis though. I enjoy trying whales whenever the opportunity arises to obtain them. There are certainly some beers I've come across that deserve the acclaim, but there are also ones that let you down. I would say the majority make for an exceptional experience.

How can you look at somebody and tell what kind of job they have?
This must be one of the dumbest threads in BA history filled with hate and envy.

Which your post does little to diminish. I promise you that in person the folks on here are the most generous and least envious of any group I know, and I have met over 100 BA's. Just yesterday I received an unsolicited box of amazing limited release beer from a generous BA whose only request was to remain anonymous

Some folks on here know quite a bit about each other, and some folks have their professions on their profile page, to give possible answers to your semi-rhetorical question.

And I don't think you have been around long enough to make any comments about dumbest post in history, there have been some exceptionally dumb posts.

I have no friends so I have to drink the whalez by myself. I try to save them for special occasions like holidays, big events, and days that end in "d-a-y".

whoa whoa... so where in my post am I saying something about the generosity or the status of the BA community? Yeah I haven't been here THAT long but I can echo your words about how good people around here are based on the 10-20 that I have met since I joined. Same stories about boxes and sharing and helping etc. My post was directed towards the comment in the first page where it was implied that the people drinking often and posting pictures don't seem to have a proper job to support their habits. That was a stupid comment without any basis. Sorry that I couldn't reply or quote directly to it from the app.

I don't think I've ever drank a "Whale" I just drink beer I enjoy. If a "Whale" comes my way I'll drink it but I don't go out of my way to get one and trade like 12 beers or pay a mark up of 128% of the cost for 1 "Whale"

If I see someone post about a beer I can get and they can't I will send them a msg and send 1 or 2 out of the appreciation of beer without asking anything in return. I think beer should be shared, not hoarded, not stashed away in hopes of profit.

Eh I'm less jealous of their ability to afford it and more jealous of their liver/stomach/etc. etc. to endure it. I've seen people drinking pouring whale after whale and not at a share with maybe 10-15 minutes in between. I'd reawaken my acid reflux with a vengeance if I drank like that on a daily basis :|

I don't know, to me generosity is the opposite of envy, and likely the person you accused of envy is probably a generous person IRL. It didn't seem all that hateful to me either, but maybe you're right.

Funny you mention it, after New Years I took the recycling out and it was a TON of high quality beer, I thought to myself "holy shot did I drink all these mighty beers"

Being an active trader I tend to have a lot of interesting beers. But one persons "whale" is another persons shelf turd

    Drink your good beer!

Maybe that's true for you but it has really no impact on my enjoyment of craft beer, that's true for pretty much everyone I know.
