Is Voodoo doing an event this year?

By event I assume you mean a barrel room collection release where different bottles can be purchased?

Its tough to say. I think any potential "special release" beers are still resting in barrels. If one is coming, im guessing it wont be for awhile since they just released the buffalo trace grand negro voodoo papi bottles and they would have been a good candidate to be a part of a larger release like the apple brandy version was before.

    only @voodoobrewery can answer that

NEED another Barrel Room release. It has been too long since we have partied at Voodoo. That said, I've heard whispers of Black Magick resting in barrels. They have been doing a bunch of more silent type releases recently, so maybe that will be the case with these. Hopefully, it's a party type release though

I'm doubting they will ever do a release where you have to camp overnight again, but they are Voodoo so you never know. It makes sense financially to drop them as one off's so you have more people coming through the Tap Rooms on several occasions.

They posted a picture a week ago on instagram of Wax pellets which could mean something is on the way. Or it could just be a picture of wax pellets.

A Facebook post from their Homestead location pages reads:

Stay tuned this coming Monday Feb 1st, we will be announcing the largest, most rad event we have ever planned @ Voodoo Brewery Homestead. Cheers!

If I were to guess, I would say that it's not related to any type of barrel aged release, but it looks like we'll find out tomorrow.

That's not whispers. There are pictures confirming it. I did a little investigation and they posted pics of those filled barrels around March so I can't imagine it being too much longer. But who knows, it's only speculation at this point.

Think the last group Black Magick variants were aged for nearly a year and a half, but someone else can probably confirm exact length of aging.

Makes sense that it would be black magick... They had fresh non barreled bmagick on firkin at last year's release at this time... along with ba maple syrup. Should be some fun variants of the best base stout out there

Guess I'll shamelessly feed the speculation train... What fun is beer without obsessing over what's next?

They had a Facebook post at the end of December advertising empty barrels for sale. Buffalo Trace and Heaven Hill. As far as I know, the GNVP was in Buffalo Trace exclusively... So what was in the Heaven Hill barrels and where is it now?

Yellow wax was the next pic. I'm really hoping for ManBearPig!!!!
What barrels were used for the Bourbon Barrel Maple Syrup and Honey? Pretty sure those barrels are current fill with ManBearPig and by my calculations, should be ready soon?!?!?!?!

18 months in the barrels. I don't think we'll see BM yet.

Hopefully it has the vanilla beans like the firkins they had in the fall. That beer... Lord have mercy. One of the best beers I had in 2015.

    *Warning this post contains sarcasm*

The beer tells the brewer when it is ready. There is no exact length of aging. Hasn't everybody heard that?

You mean from voodoo specifically or just in general?

    Cause yes to both.

The other local brewers must be hard of hearing.

Judging by how often I get reported, not everyone shares your enthusiasm.
