Other Half Brewing Thread (Feb 2016)

Got my first taste last night (courtesy of @PVMT thanks!) and it was kind of like a trillium beer in an other half can. Very good beer.

 

Drinking 2nd Anniversary is such a catch-22 for me. I want to drink as much as possible, but I also want to savor it for as long as it's good for.

This is easily one of the best problems I've ever had.

 

Word is that the blend of Hop Showers/Money will be avail at Barrier as well (not sure just pours or cans from OH).

it does have a great name from what I am told... i am sure someone can figure it out...

 

Growler fills are how I handle that!

 

Both brewers used #makeitrain on instagram, so it looks like Make it Rain. I think someone here called that earlier.

 

Make It Rain would be an awesome name but I prefer Shower Me With Money (I think @jrnyc dropped that first).

 

I know this would somewhat exclude the hop showers part but I think "Show Me the Money" would be a great name

 

Speaking of Hop Showers, is anybody else loving this batch?

 

Thats why you gotta ad -er to Show. Shower Me With Money. Best of both worlds.

 

Interesting, it's actually my least favorite batch. Only cracked one so far, but finding it less fragrant and more bitter than past batches. Still super crushable, but a bit out of balance compared to what I expect from HS. Normally, I'd say HS is my favorite OH beer, but this batch wouldn't go straight to the top like previous batches. Will edit if next can changes my opinion!

 

So I'm guessing if they're canning Make it Rain, it'll be the release after next? At least we'll (hopefully) get one reprieve before back to an early morning wake-up call!

 

So many good possibilities for a name. I like Mo Money Mo Diamonds.

 

I had Hop Showers at the Jeffrey some time ago and didn't like it. I found the hops to be a bit abrasive and the malt profile almost nonexistent. I wasn't sure if the thin malt was intentional but I figured that's how things are these days. Maybe that magnified the abrasive feeling. Does this sound normal or was that not a great batch?
That said I prefer the regular OH IPA, I guess I prefer a bit more balance.

 

Strange, I've always felt that Hop Showers had perhaps too much malt sweetness for me, although I felt the batch before this most recent one was a bit better in that regard. Only got a 4-pack at this past release but haven't cracked one yet, so I'll be interested in seeing how it is.

 

I feel like it's a bit less hoppy and lighter than usual with a bit of sweetness at the end and overall easier to drink.

 

I have heard it is something else. Unless they changed it. Regardless I heard it gonna be killer.

 

I only have had OH beers on tap - not waiting in any lines - and I've read you guys here talk about cans tasting different at different times after canning. So maybe the beer is best on draft? Just wondered if hop showers was supposed to be light malt/abrasive.

 

I heard something was going to be called "stacks on stacks". Not sure if it'll be this collaboration though.

 

IMO since other half started canning their beers taste better in can. Especially in the taproom green diamonds in particular always seems under carbonated compared to the can but idk if thats just me. still good tho
