Yes, it's crazy to think that. Yes, it's wishful thinking. Cycle no likey the digital age in general. They don't even have their own website.

Crazy to think they have a process that works fine and doesn't involve them giving money to a 3rd party ticket sale site. A 3rd party site that will likely crash. It isn't like tickets go unsold.

No question the tickets will sell quickly. And props to businesses that reward their local folks for being diligent. Just dying to go to this thing and not sure how to make it happen from Atlanta...

I never complained about their system. More that maybe their statement about it being 'as fair as possible' might relate to the huge number of people coming from out of town over this weekend.

Also for what it's worth, most times the various fees you as the consumer pay on these tickets pay the 3rd party. The brewery itself rarely pays anything to these 3rd parties to get it done...

Your best shot is to find a local to buy you a +1 ticket.

Yes, you are insane. Cycle takes care of their locals and see no need to cater to anyone else. They will be as fair as they can....to the locals ha ha

Cycle is still gonna make it worth your while that whole week if it's anything like last year. BA stuff on every day. BA day is pretty much set up to please the locals.

If I have people down on Tampa/St. Pete buy my tickets or only works if I'm there plus one? Or can they buy them under my name?

Fairly certain they want whoever is buying to show ID and buy one for themselves first. That way they can track who's buying and not have someone keep buying for out-of-towners and then finally buying their own.

So you could have your people buy you a ticket...it will just cost you double if they don't want theirs.

    BA Day update -
Price is the same as last year ($75) and includes the same stuff, unlimited pours, a bottle and a glass.
Tickets will go on sale sometime this month, probably before the 19th.
Limit for tickets is 4 per person, and again, all tickets will be associated with the name of the person expecting to use it so buying for other people means you need all of the names when you buy the tickets.
The event will start at 12, we are working on a system to check IDs and get wristbands (or something) distributed starting earlier but it will be more like our number system, pick it up and then leave not early entrance to the space to hang out and wait for things to begin.
Bottle shares are fine, we do ask that you try to keep glass containers away from the courts as much as possible, the courts take up a lot of space so we are asking for a best effort rather than mandating zero glass allowed (your taster glasses will be made of glass after all).
There will be 2 tap stations with identical beers and quantities, they will not be right next to each other so hopefully the line will split. This does mean there is a possibility that you could wait in 1 line for a beer, find out it is gone but still pouring at the other station and you are stuck at the back of another line. We don't have an answer for that scenario other than to say we are sorry if it happens, based on previous events it is unlikely as it took several revolutions of a 200 person line to kick the first keg last year.
We will have 3-4 "regular" beers at the courts at a 3rd station, they will be included and can either be tastes in your glass or we might have plastic cups for pints.
Food trucks. Thats all we know about food.

Beer Week plans - we will not be doing bottles at noon each day, too many lines and the block got pretty antsy by Friday. It is likely we will open early, possibly as early as 11 each day but definitely not bottles at open. More details when we figure them out.

Can someone explain further... "Bottle shares are fine" So are we going to be allowed to bring in backpacks full of bottles and share at will? Sounds too cool to be real. Also, the $75 ticket includes the glassware +1 bottle - is this bottle predetermined or do we get to pick one from a list that they might have available?

The bottle is predetermined. Yes you can share at will.

I know it is internet and maybe people do not read, but the amount of ridiculous questions from Cycle's Facebook page is just getting to be asinine. multiple times, people state #cashonly...cycle has never done anything but cash only, yet people continue to ask the same questions. if people continue to bash cycle and doug, i can see him saying screw BA day due to the entitled people who feel they deserve a ticket, just because they are coming in for Huna day.

    From their FB page:

Apparently a major point of concern is where to buy tickets for BA Day. The answer is exclusively Cycle Brewing on Central Ave, as far as when - still undetermined but the 16th looks like a decent day. As much advanced notice on this as possible so stay tuned.
No online sales or anything of that sort.

Even as an out of towner who is disappointed I likely won't be able to go, I totally agree with you. It's their prerogative to run their business as they please, and it's the consumers prerogative to be disappointed if they don't have access to the event... But some of the crap people are posting is obnoxious and embarrassing.

Yeah. I had to stop looking at the comment sections on Cycle and CCB posts in general. It is usually requests to ship to their state or ISOs or tags to friends (which I can usually handle) but the outright entitlement really takes the fun out of beer.

no doubt. kind of bummed us out-of-towners probably won't be able to attend, but we'll hit up Cycle's actual location and enjoy what we can. Plenty of good beer around Tampa that week for sure.
